Dining

Close to St John’s Mews, Capri @ The Vine and the Asian influences of Kashmiri Aroma are both popular for diners who don’t want to venture into the city. For those who do, there is an endless choice, with something for every palate and budget.
Trip Advisor lists no less than 350 places to eat, with Jose’s Tapas , Olive and Meze, and The Cow Shed topping the list, and Brazuca Rodizio Bar and Grill, the Kaye Arm, Iris and Amaia also highly rated.

Education

Wakefield has a mix of well respected schools in both the public and independent sectors, with Queen Elizabeth Grammar School for Boys right on your doorstep and Wakefield Girls High School also within easy reach for private pupils.
The city also boasts a good choice of state schools, with the Ofsted ‘good’ rated St John’s CofE Infants and Juniors close to St John’s Mews and a choice of secondary schools in and around the city centre. Wakefield College provides sixth form studies as well as a wide range of further education for adults.

Leisure

There’s lots to do in and around Wakefield, with something for everyone. Lightwaves Leisure Centre is just a short distance from the development, offering a choice of sports, with further opportunities for action on the 100acre water sports lake at Pugneys Country Park. Golfers can pay to play at the municipal course at Lupset or join Wakefield Golf Club at Sandal.
The city is home to the Theatre Royal, which has a diverse programme of shows and music throughout the year, as well as a Cineworld cinema at Westgate Retail Park.
The Hepworth Gallery, Wakefield Cathedral, the National Coalmining Museum and Sandal Castle are all popular attractions in or near the city.

Shopping

Wakefield shopping has undergone a transformation in recent years, with the multi-million pound Trinity Walk Shopping Centre opening in 2011, to go with the existing Westgate Retail and Leisure Park and The Ridings Shopping Centre.
For a designer bargain, head for the J32 Outlet Village, where you’ll find sale-style savings all year round. Alternatively, for a bit of pure retail therapy, head to the shopaholic’s paradise of Leeds where you’ll find everything from international brands to curious and quirky independents.

With Wakefield Westgate rail station under a mile away, and both the M1 and M62 within a three mile drive, you couldn’t be better placed for your daily commute. Leeds is just 9miles to the north, with York a little further at 28miles. Castleford and Pontefract are under 10miles away, Barnsley is around 15miles and Huddersfield is around 20miles.
