WhatHouse? Location Ratings For Transport Links Explained

Posted 15 November 2023 by Keith Osborne

We assess the latest information to rate current new homes developments under the core topic of transport links...

WhatHouse? has just launched its Location Ratings index to provide house-hunters with detailed, up-to-date scores on many different aspects of the places they want to live.

Working with data experts CLSQ, we assess the latest information to give every current new homes development a rating under several core topics, including Transport.

Being within easy reach of people and places for work or leisure is a top consideration when choosing your brand new home. Can you commute easily by private or public transport, and are there routes to close by for the places you’ll want to go to? Would it be safe to leave the car at home and cycle somewhere instead? Are there convenient EV charging points in the local area?

There are a host of things we use to calculate our Transport Links rating, including:

  • The proximity of cycle pathways for safe and ‘green’ access to local amenities.
  • The provision of public transport in the form of bus and rail services
  • The proximity of A-roads and motorways
  • EV charger access. If you don’t have a charger of your own at home, is there one nearby?

Together, these give an in-depth combined score in what to expect from the area around your potential brand new home.

Example ratings: Top 5 ranking developments for railway connections in the North East of England:
