Stylist enjoys access to ready-made client base at Pulse in Colindale

Posted 28 July 2014

Business is booming for a London hair stylist who recently relocated her salon from Edgware Road to new commercial premises at the flagship Pulse development in Colindale.

Part of a multi-million pound regeneration of Colindale, and situated right next to the tube station, Pulse is a mixed development from Fairview New Homes made up of more than 900 residential apartments and many commercial units, one of which is now home to Mei Hua Lee's Cosmic Hair salon. Other business units there are filling up quickly, including a café that is busy preparing to open its doors in the near future.

The location has also proved a major draw for commuters who want to live within easy striking distance of central London, which is less than 30 minutes away by tube. This means Cosmic Hair has enjoyed access to a ready-made and fast-growing client base.

"We've not been here very long, but we've made a good start," says Mei Hua Lee. "It is a good place for a business like ours, because there is a lot of trade... with the new apartments being built and more to follow in the future.

"It feels more and more like a little community with every person who moves in, and it's a nice place to work."

To welcome the Cosmic Hair team to Pulse, Fairview presented them with flowers and champagne.

"We are finding businesses of various types are keen to move to Pulse," explains Sales and Marketing Director at Fairview, Jim Holliday. "It's a win-win situation - they have hundreds of customers literally on their doorstep and our residents have more and more facilities to hand.

"We're really starting to create our own community feel there and building infrastructure such as commercial units is an important part of this."

Fairview has now started taking enquiries for two commercial units (one measuring 633 sq ft, and the other 1,932 sq ft) that will be available in the next phase of construction at Pulse - both suitable for use as A1 retail, A2 financial services, A3 restaurants and cafés, B1 business and D1 non-residential such as clinics, health centres and nurseries.
