South East New Homes Round-up - The Latest New Homes For Sale

Sluggish UK house price growth over the past two years has been driven mainly by a slowdown in the south and east of England, according to reports.

The lowest annual growth was in London, followed by the South East, where prices increased by 1.8% in the year to July 2018 – whereas across the UK house prices increased by 3.1% in the year to July (still the lowest annual growth rate since August 2013).

Some housing market experts say the large increases in stamp duty at the more expensive end of the market has led to many "amateur" private landlords leaving the market. The good news is that this could work in favour of other types of buyers: with demand from landlords collapsing due to unappealing tax changes this should take some competition out of the market. This, combined with a pick up in wages and a rise in housebuilding activity, and we could see the market reach a point where house prices settle at a more sensible level relative to one's income.
