Best new homes for sale in Witney

Witney is around 12 miles west of Oxford, close to the Cotswolds. Its twice-weekly market complements a busy high street with a mix of familiar brands and range of independent shops and services. There are some popular supermarkets and other major retailers in and around town too. The ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted-rated The Batt Church of England Primary School is close to the town centre and there are many others rated ‘Good’ around Witney too. There has been a proposal to re-open the long-closed railway line to Oxford, but in the meantime, the proximity of the A40 is the easy connection to that city and further afield.

To the north of town, David Wilson Homes is selling the final dozen homes at Kingfisher Meadows, with a choice of two-, four- and five-bedroom houses still available, with starting prices from £335,000 to £725,000. There’s a super deal for first-time buyers on the two-bedroom ‘Wilford’, Part Exchange might be an option for homeowners moving up the property ladder and the show home is for sale, the five-bedroom detached ‘Emerson’ with double garage. Off the A40, just to the west of Witney, Persimmon Homes is currently offering three- and four-bedroom houses for sale priced from £419,995 to £485,995. The current availability is all for detached family homes, some with an integral garage and some with a detached garage. Best new homes for sale in Faringdon

On the western side of the county, around 18 miles from Oxford and 12 miles from Swindon, Faringdon has had market town status for over 800 years and there are still numerous buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries that reflect its status in the region. There’s also the notable Folly Tower built in 1935 which offers panoramic views of the countryside which attracts many people to the area. There are weekly Tuesday markets and a themed monthly Saturday market. Independent shops in the town include everything from antiques and jewellery to hairdressing and spectacular cakes. . A number of larger towns and cities are under a half-hour drive away. Families will find ‘Good’ Ofsted-rated schools here.

River Meadow is a David Wilson Homes development taking shape in the village of Stanford in the Vale, just an eight-minute drive from the centre of Faringdon. A very impressive range of homes with from two to five bedrooms are being built here, with current availability starting at £450,000 for the ready-to-move-into three-bedroom ‘Hadley’. On the southwestern outskirts of the town, Bewley Homes’ Bellmount View has a recently opened show home to show visitors what they can expect from the range of two-, three- and four-bedroom house types which are selling fast here. Prices currently range from £390,000 to £610,000. Oriel Gardens is a development from Bloor Homes in the south of town with its own two-, three- and four-bedroom house types. Best new homes for sale in Wallingford

Having played roles in the Norman Conquest and English Civil War, Wallingford is the right place for people fascinated with local history. The preserved buildings in and around the market square include a Tudor building which houses Wallingford Museum. With shops and amenities on the doorstep, the town is well served but also within easy reach of those larger towns and cities. Being surrounded on all sides by the protected countryside of the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs, it's a haven for lovers of country walks, cycling and horse riding. Commuters will find regular services to London and other destinations from nearby Cholsey and Didcot Parkway.

Berkeley Group – WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year 2022 – has just released a new collection of homes at Highcroft, which comes under its St Edward brand. This latest phase of this major development on the northwest outskirts of town is called Heronsbrook Place and it comprises 103 elegant new homes which are designed in a style inspired by local architecture. Best new homes for sale in Henley-on-Thames

Henley’s attractive riverside setting and global fame for its annual rowing regatta have made it a very desirable place to live and one of the UK’s most expensive market towns. It has an impressive array of independent shops and highly regarded restaurants and bars and being near the county’s border with Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, is within a half-hour drive of many more retail, amenities and leisure options in the likes of Reading, Maidenhead and High Wycombe. The railway station offers regular services to and from Paddington on its branch line from Twyford.

The town’s heritage and character are just part of the reason why older buyers are attracted to live there and McCarthy Stone’s Albert Court provides a range of one- and two-bedroom apartments for over-70s. The private homes are complemented by communal facilities such as lounge, gardens, bistro and guest suite, and residents can tailor a care service if they want one. Best new homes for sale in Abingdon-on-Thames

This town seven miles south of Oxford city centre made a name for itself for weaving and clothing, and there are still weekly and monthly markets taking place here. There’s a great range of shops too. There are some great leisure time options with riverside walks, parks, rowing club and cricket club among others. Abingdon School is an historic independent school with many famous alumni, but there are plenty of state education facilities rated ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for all ages. The likes of Reading, Swindon, Newbury and Bicester are all well under an hour’s drive away.

Abbey Fields is a development in the north of town where Barratt Developments is busy building a wide variety of house types to appeal to different buyer groups. Under the Barratt Homes brand, there are two-, three- and four-bedroom houses with starting prices between £375,000 and £575,000, of which a few will be ready to move into this summer.
