The WhatHouse? team takes a look at the latest new build homes in the West Midlands covering Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire

With several spots in the West Midlands highlighted in a recent Sunday Times list of the "Best places to live" in the UK, in our latest round-up of new developments we've put the spotlight on this conveniently central part of the country.

We have found new homes available at sites in Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Coventry, some of which offer rural locations and others a more urban setting – and many of which have options suitable for first-time buyers as well as downsizers, larger families and buy-to-let investors.

Wychbury Fields in Hagley, Worcestershire (CALA Homes)

Wychbury Fields (CALA Homes)One- to five-bedroom properties are available at Wychbury Fields on the fringes of Hagley village, with selected apartments available exclusively to local buyers at a discounted price. This well-established development is designed around a garden village concept within a parkland setting, surrounded by mature woodland. Dudley and Kidderminster are about seven miles away and Birmingham 15 miles, making it a popular location for commuters.

The discounted one- and two-bedroom apartments offer contemporary open plan living and are capped at 70% of market value, with the one-bedroom properties priced from £119,950. They are available to eligible buyers who live or work in the area covered by Bromsgrove District Council or who have a local family connection.

“These new apartments offer fantastic value for local people and an affordable way for first-time buyers to secure their first home in a great location," says Gill Sabin, sales and marketing director for CALA Homes Midlands. "To be considered for the scheme, purchasers must be over 18, have a household income of less than £60,000 per annum, have a good credit history and be purchasing for their sole main residence.”

The development also offers larger three-, four- and five-bedroom homes for those looking to move up the property ladder.
