South East new homes round-up – the best new builds in the region

Posted 26 February 2016 by Keith Osborne

The WhatHouse? team shows you its favourite new build homes currently for sale or available soon in the Home Counties...

The latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that average house prices in the South East and London rose sharply in 2015, only outstripped by the East of England.

The ONS statistics show the average house price in London and the South East grew by 9.4% and 8.8% respectively, beaten only by the 9.7% rise for the East of England. Paul Smith, chief executive of haart estate agents, said: “[The] data displays another considerable annual uplift in average house prices across the UK, in part driven by increased levels of competition at the end of last year as buy-to-let investors sought to complete on their second home purchase in anticipation of the 3% stamp duty surcharge coming into effect in April.”

Elsewhere, a report by Santander has predicted that the number of UK properties worth at least £1m would more than triple between now and 2030, with the concentration of these prime properties in London and the South East. In 14 years’ time, the bank forecasts is that some 25% of London’s housing stock will be priced at a £1m or more and about 7% of the stock in the South East at that same level.

Here’s the WhatHouse? team’s pick of the best new homes across the South East at a wide range of price points…
