Milton Keynes Urban Area offers wide choice of new homes for all budgets

Posted 1 May 2014

Far enough away from London not to suffer congestion, but close enough to travel to the capital in about an hour, towns in the Milton Keynes Urban Area offer a popular and convenient base for commuters.

The area is also within easy striking distance of Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge, and is surrounded by lovely Buckinghamshire countryside. House-hunters will currently find a great deal of development under way in central Milton Keynes, as well as in surrounding towns, offering a good choice of new homes for a wide range of budgets.

Milton Keynes

Less than five miles from the centre of Milton Keynes itself, David Wilson Homes' Tattenhoe Park offers a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom energy-efficient homes priced from £278,495 to £489,995, offering plenty of options for families of different sizes. There is an on-site primary school as well as other schools serving the area, with excellent community facilities and transport links close by. The area is home to several safe cycling and walking routes, good sporting and leisure facilities, and easy public transport links - while Milton Keynes Central railway station is just a short drive away. The A421 is a mile away and the A5, and M1 within 10 miles.

Barratt Homes has created a development with a Mediterranean touch at Stratford Park in Wolverton, situated between the northern edge of Milton Keynes and the sought-after village of Stony Stratford. Offering a mix of contemporary and traditional three- and four-bedroom homes priced from £266,995, the development has great schools nearby, as well as a new leisure centre, pool and gym. Stony Stratford is less than a mile away, the M1 is four miles away, and residents can reach London Euston by train in 40 minutes.

Newport Pagnell

Just across the M1 from Milton Keynes, perched on the banks of the River Ouse, the old market town of Newton Pagnell is another popular option with easy transport links across the region. Home to a good selection of independent shops, schools for all ages, and a wide choice of other day-to-day amenities, Newport Pagnell is only about four and a half miles from Milton Keynes. What's more, within a couple of minutes' drive you can find yourself surrounded by lovely countryside, small villages and country parks.

Coming soon, Country & Metropolitan Homes has a wide selection of classically-styled new homes very near Newport Pagnell at Redhouse Park, in a beautiful rural setting close to lakes, canals, cycle routes and bridle paths (prices on application). There is a conservation area within the development, and excellent transport links close by.

In the lively town of Bletchley, about four miles south east of Milton Keynes, Country & Metropolitan Homes has a development of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom homes at Life, priced from £153,950 to £199,950. Situated within walking distance of the town centre, famous Bletchley Park and the railway station (with regular services to London Euston), Life is also minutes from the town's leisure centre and close to the A5 and M1.
