Fine array of new homes for sale near beautiful Ripon

For house buyers planning to move to the tiny cathedral city of Ripon in North Yorkshire, house-hunting can be tough - with few new homes being built in the city itself. There are, however, a number of new developments situated very close to the city that are definitely worth a look.
The fourth smallest city in England, Ripon has a population of just under 16,000 and is known for its historic markets, cathedral and racecourse. The city is well-connected by road via the A1 north and south and the A61 east and west, with frequent bus services to Harrogate and Leeds.

Once full planning consent has been given, construction is due to begin on a small development of new homes from housebuilder Kebbell, situated just a mile from Ripon's centre. The Grove will incorporate seven three- and four-bedroom family homes set in mature gardens, recreating the feel of a manor house estate. The location offers easy access to the A19/A1(M) north and south, while Ripon's superb educational establishments are likely to make this a popular choice amongst families with children, too. Construction work is not expected to commence until early/mid 2014, however, so anyone looking to buy more immediately will need to look at other options in the area.

Just under 10 miles from Ripon, Willow Bridge is an exclusive, award-winning development of luxury new homes created by Shepherd Homes, situated in the sought-after village of Dalton, near Thirsk. Made up of four- and five-bedroom detached homes overlooking rural fields, and designed to nestle seamlessly into their local environment, the exteriors have a traditional look and feel while the interiors are very modern and finished to a high specification. Just one of the 27 homes at this development now remains available: the ‘Asenby', a five-bedroom detached family home priced at £439,995. The closest railway station is at Thirsk, three and a half miles away.

On the edge of the desirable Georgian market town of Easingwold, 17 miles from Ripon, Redrow's Oaklands development is within easy reach of the A19, giving quick access to York (12 miles away) and Thirsk (10 miles), as well as destinations further afield such as Harrogate, Leeds and Manchester. Easingwold itself is home to some lovely pubs, restaurants and speciality shops. There is a golf course, and the Galtres Centre hosts a wide range of entertainment including plays and concerts, while the sports complex has a sports hall, outdoor pitches, a fitness suite and a rifle range. For families, Easingwold has its own primary school, while for secondary-aged pupils there is a school opposite the Oaklands development.
