Planning consent has been secured for Edinburgh’s first luxury Ortus Homes’ development which will be located on Murrayfield Drive in the Murrayfield area of the Scottish capital. This news follows confirmation of work starting on Scotland’s first Ortus Homes’ development, The Pines, which began in November on Doonholm Road in Alloway, Ayrshire.
The development on Murrayfield Drive will be exclusive to those aged over 55 and will provide 16 contemporary retirement apartments complete with fully fitted kitchens, allocated parking and private balconies or terraces. The site is around a mile away from the city centre with strong transport links to make getting around easy.
Ortus Homes is an innovative concept to give over-55s the freedom to enjoy their leisure years in idyllic locations from retirement home specialists, the McCarthy & Stone group. There are already a number of successful Ortus Homes’ sites south of the border.
Suzanne McElhiney, marketing manager for McCarthy & Stone Scotland: “The concept of Ortus Homes is simple; it’s about rightsizing your space to allow you to upsize your lifestyle. It’s not about compromise, it’s about making the right life choices to help you preserve your lifestyle and make it more enjoyable.
“It’s exciting that we are now able to bring the concept of Ortus Homes to Edinburgh and Alloway. There are already a number of Ortus sites in England that have been very well received and the ethos behind the brand complements our property portfolio in Scotland perfectly.”
Ortus Homes builds in what it calls “feel-good locations”, enabling customers to downsize and maintain their active lifestyle.
The apartments in Murrayfield are due to go on sale from May 2015 with first occupations expected in late 2015. For more information on Ortus Homes, call 0800 201 4847.
