Excellent schools, lots of green space, a host of leisure facilities, a strong housing market and close proximity to Glasgow are just some of the reasons that make Renfrewshire an attractive place for families to settle.  Housebuilders in the area cater for families of all shapes and sizes from those just starting out and planning their first baby to those looking for a spacious house to turn into a home.

Situated on the grounds of the old Hawkhead Hospital, Kier Homes’ Hawkhead Village development features a collection of family homes.  Two house types are still available at the popular Paisley scheme.  Firstly, the ‘Luss’ comprises a living and dining area, kitchen, downstairs WC, master bedroom with en-suite shower room, second bedroom with fitted wardrobes, bathroom, a box room and ample storage and costs £146,000.  Alternatively, the ‘Ferguson’ five-bedroom detached villa will set you back £389,995 and comes with a lounge, dining room, large breakfasting kitchen, two en-suites and a garage.

Buyers looking for a tranquil setting should check out Bett Homes’ Greenwood site in Inverkip.  Lying between the marina and surrounding woodland, this popular development still has a selection of two- and three-bedroom terraced homes available including the ‘Appleton’ house type, which is priced from £183,000 and includes an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, utility room, cloakroom, master bedroom with fitted wardobes, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Bellway Homes offers a collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom detached family properties at its Westgrove development in Barrhead.  Prices here range from £195,995 for a three-bedroom house with open plan living and dining area, kitchen, master en-suite and a garage to £309,995 for the five-bedroom ‘Sunningdale WG’.  Benefits to this villa include a formal lounge, dining kitchen, two en-suites, a utility room and an integrated double garage.  Situated to the south west of Glasgow, the site is close to Silverburn shopping centre and has a choice of primary and secondary schools nearby.

Four housebuilders are involved in the construction of Dargavel Village (pictured), a new development at Bishopton. Charles Church, CALA, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes all have new build properties on the market at the site, the first phase of which is set to comprise 350 new three-, four- and five-bedroom homes.  A park and ride at Bishopton railway station allows for easy access to Glasgow city centre and there are a number of good schools in the area.  All four sales centres are now open with available properties ranging in price from £159,995 to £499,000.
