Keith OsborneFor house-hunters in Surrey, there have been a host of recent unveilings of brand new homes to buy and show homes to view at several developments across Surrey.
Last weekend, SO Resi launched some Shared Ownership apartments and houses at a new site in Oxshott, one of the county’s most sought-after places to live.
The apartments will be available through Shared Ownership, meaning that buyers are able to purchase a minimum share of 30% for one-bedroom and 25% for two-bedrooms, with just a 10% deposit. Buyers will then have the option to gradually increase their share in the future through a process known as staircasing.
Right now at this development, the range of one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses start from £110,250 for a 30% share (based on a full market value of £367,500). These homes will be available for residents to move in during Spring/Summer 2024. The specification includes fitted kitchen and integrated appliances, wardrobes to the primary bedroom, a parking space with an EV charging point, and exterior cycle storage. Residents share landscaped communal grounds.
Kevin Sims, director of sales & marketing at SO Resi, commented: “The current housing market is making it difficult for first-time buyers to place a foot on the property ladder, but in places like Oxshott, this is near to impossible. People often think Shared Ownership is only for first-time buyers, however with the average semi-detached property at a staggering £816,667 in Oxshott, our homes will also appeal to second steppers looking to move to an affluent area.”

Pupils from Loxwood Primary School have cut the ribbon to officially open two new show houses at Bewley Homes’ much-anticipated development at Willow Fields in the village of Alfold. Three girls won a site safety poster campaign organised by the housebuilder and were also shown around the development, which comprises 80 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.
Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, said: “This is another prime location for our Garden Village Collection of homes. Willow Fields has a lovely rural feel and yet is convenient for travel to the nearby major towns on good road networks. Meeting with local schools and their pupils is also a key part of our community engagement programme. It is lovely to see future homeowners giving their feedback on our new homes and interior furnishings too.”
Prices start from £439,000. Find out more about Willow Fields from Bewley Homes.

Also in Cranleigh, on the edge of the village, SO Resi has launched a number of Shared Ownership homes , with more to come later this spring. The initial collection at SO Resi Cranleigh provides a range of one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses, with flats starting from £102,000 (a 30% share based on full market value of £340,000) and houses from £118,750 (a 25% share based on full market value of £475,000). All homes feature open-plan kitchens, living and dining spaces, integrated appliances and a washer/dryer.
Kevin Sims at SO Resi added: “Shared Ownership is becoming an increasingly attractive prospect for buyers, thanks to its flexibility and low five per cent deposit requirement. At SO Resi Cranleigh, a deposit starts from just £10,200 which is a far more achievable goal for many aspirational first-time buyers. We have seen strong demand for new homes here already, as first-time buyers look to escape the rental trap and get onto the property ladder.”
More one- and two-bedroom apartments are released in Spring 2024. Find out more at www.sharedownership.co.uk.
