Our Pick Of Brand New Detached Homes For Sale In Scotland

Detached homes are an increasingly popular choice, and we've found some great examples of brand new ones around Scotland...

The latest data released by Halifax has revealed that detached houses were the most sought-after property types among home-movers in the last 12 months, accounting for 32% of sales – a sharp increase from the 25% it was ten years ago.

Kim Kinnaird, mortgages director at Halifax, commented: “The growing popularity of detached homes reflects a desire or need for more space. With many businesses continuing to embrace hybrid working, we’ve seen people take the opportunity to find homes that better suit their lifestyles in locations that might not have been practical with a daily commute to consider.

“It is also true that detached homes often come as a later step on the housing ladder for many and, when the opportunity arises, families will choose a home that gives them space to settle and grow over a longer period – a ‘forever home’, which will be a more flexible space for their changing needs and lifestyles.”

We’ve taken a look around some of our current favourite developments in Scotland and seen some great brand new detached homes for house-hunters to consider.

New detached homes for sale in North Lanarkshire

Barratt Homes’ Calder Gardens is near Coatbridge and currently has a range of three- and four-bedroom homes for sale, including several detached types. Our favourite is called the ‘Morton’, from £304,995. There are a few of these for sale, offering integral garage, open-plan kitchen/dining room, utility room and four double bedrooms (two with built-in wardrobes, one of those with en suite). David Wilson Homes has three- and four-bedroom houses for sale at DWH @ Torrance Park, near Motherwell and a 20-minute drive from Glasgow city centre. The ‘Ballater’, from £399,995, is ready to move into and comes with a saving of nearly £20,000. The spacious layout includes a utility room and a glazed bay off the kitchen/dining room, a lounge, study, four double bedrooms (one with en suite) and a bathroom with both tub and walk-in shower. Westwood Park is a Keepmoat Homes development in Glenrothes with two-, three- and four-bedroom homes available starting at £189,000. Those living here are close to plenty of amenities, and families will appreciate the well-regarded local schools. From the current selection here, the ‘Huntly’, from £249,000, is an example of a three-bedroom detached house. Right now, there’s a great cashback and upgrade offer on Plot 152. On the ground floor are the lounge, the kitchen/diner, cloakroom and the integral single garage, while upstairs are the three good-sized bedrooms (one with en suite) and a bathroom. Persimmon Homes is busy in Fife too, with two-, three- and four-bedroom properties currently for sale at Eden Woods, situated in Guardbridge, providing easy access to the coast and towns like St Andrews and Cupar. ‘The Aberlour’ starts at £276,000 and there are several examples of it on the market here. Coming with allocated parking or private driveway, this double-fronted home has a lounge and a dining room at the front, and a kitchen with French doors to the garden at the rear. Now over 90% sold, this development has some homes ready to move into and some big deals or buying schemes available on many of the remaining plots. The ‘Glamis’ is one of the currently released types, and there are a couple available, starting from £304,995 and with a choice of offers including an LBTT or deposit contribution. Just six miles north-west of the city centre, home here is within easy reach of local amenities too, and convenient for the Edinburgh City Bypass for journeys further afield. From £565,995, the ‘Campbell’ is our favourite here, with some substantial offers totalling over £30,000. On a corner plot with detached garage and driveway, both the lounge and kitchen/diner are dual aspect, and there’s also a utility room and four very comfortable double bedroom, one of which has an en suite shower room. Under half-an-hour from Edinburgh (quicker by rail than road thanks to the nearby station) and within walking distance of the beach, The Earls is a Persimmon Homes scheme of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes to the newly created community of Blindwells, which will eventually comprise some 1,600 residences. Among the available brand new properties is ‘The Leith’, starting at £309,995, a four-bedroom house in a contemporary style with an integral single garage.
