Family Make Double Move At Newton Mearns Community

When looking to buy their first home, Pooja and Abhijit Sharma knew one of their top priorities was to live within a fantastic school catchment area, so choosing to move to Cala Homes (West) Balgray Gardens development was the perfect option.

Having previously rented an apartment in Glasgow, the Sharma family were on the search for an ideal family home in a friendly community. 

Their search was quickly narrowed down to the East Renfrewshire town of Newton Mearns and soon discovered Cala’s development within the Maidenhill community and decided to pay a visit.

Abhijit says: “When we first visited Balgray Gardens, we instantly fell in love. We could see that the development had been meticulously planned and it offered homes that were built to the highest of standards, with all the finest details accounted for. We knew as soon as we arrived at the development that we wanted to make the move and become part of the community at Balgray Gardens.”

Having originally purchased a four-bedroom, detached Bargower homestyle in 2021 and lived on the development for some time, Abhijit and Pooja knew that although they loved their home and their new community, they wanted to upsize to a larger house.

The Sharma family wanted to stay within the Maidenhill community, so they made the decision to purchase their second Cala home, the Colville housetype which comes complete with four spacious bedrooms, a study which is ideal for working at home and an integrated garage.

The family found the whole process and double move very simple. Abhijit continues: “The sales team were so knowledgeable, they had a great understanding of our needs, and could advise on any – and all – of our queries. The whole process for our first property took around seven months from reservation to purchase, it was very straightforward. Upon buying our second home at Maidenhill we had a very similar experience; we are lucky to say it’s been enjoyable which I know is not always the case as moving home can be stressful.”

Energy efficiency within their new home was also a top priority, having previously lived in an older property before making the move to Balgray Gardens.

Abhijit adds: “Energy efficiency was definitely a consideration, we knew moving to a new build home would help us to keep costs to a minimum, rather than moving into another older house that would need more upkeep and cost more to heat.”
