CALA (The City of Aberdeen Land Association) Homes is the UK’s most upmarket housebuilder and has a heritage going back over 100 years.
The company started in Aberdeen, and gradually extended its reach across Scotland, and then across England. It aims to provide high quality, luxury new homes in desirable locations. It builds a range of new homes, from waterfront apartments in busy cities, to spacious, rural properties. These tend to be large, luxurious properties which reflect the surround areas.
Aware of its responsibility to the environment, it only buys land in consultation with local communities and relevant groups. It maximises the use of natural resources when building, in order to create sustainable developments with minimum impact on the surroundings.
CALA Homes has won numerous awards over the years. In 2013 it was awarded the prestigious title of Housebuilder of the Year at the WhatHouse? Awards, and most recently, it won Silver in the Best Large Housebuilder category at the WhatHouse? Awards 2017, an award it also took home in 2016. It has a five-star rating from the Home Builders Federation Satisfaction Survey, a rating it has achieved for several years, and over 90% of buyers said they would recommend the housebuilder.
It offers a Part Exchange scheme, where it acts as a buyer for homeowners current property when they are purchasing a CALA Homes property, and this is a service that almost a third of buyers use. It also offers the government-backed Help to Buy scheme on eligible properties, and the housebuilder also offers other incentives on selected properties, such as a contribution to legal fees or your Stamp Duty.
In 2014, the company bought independent luxury housebuilder Banner Homes and announced its aim to double the size of its operations. It has two regional head offices, one in Edinburgh and one in Buckinghamshire.
