Oakfield Grange by Lovell – Show Home Room by Room

Posted 29 August 2018 by Helen Christie

WhatHouse? takes a tour of the elegant show home at Lovell’s Oakfield Grange development in Cwmbran…

It may use the softest of colour palettes but don’t underestimate the impact of Lovell’s Hardy show home at the Oakfield Grange development in Cwmbran, south Wales.

“We’ve gone for a classically glamorous style and a colour scheme rich in taupes, aquas and greys which flow beautifully through this fantastic four-bedroom family home,” explains Claire Gillard, director at Sunrise Interiors, who oversaw the design for both the Hardy and the development’s three-bedroom Keats show home.

“At the same time, we’ve introduced elements, including some darker colour tones, which give a punchiness to the overall look. It’s a home which subtly combines high-end design with the ‘liveability’ factor we also look to create in a show home; the goal is to achieve interiors which inspire and excite while also helping potential purchasers appreciate how the property could work for them on a practical level.”

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Lounge: Floral wallpaper gets a modern twist in the lounge with a modern magnolia design set against a soft ‘gilver’ (combination of gold and silver) background. The aqua in the wallpaper design is picked up by the throws and cushions. A marble-topped console table adds to the room’s luxurious feel but is contrasted with a more contemporary dark wood coffee table.

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Kitchen / dining room: Here, the uncluttered design puts the emphasis on the large amount of light-filled space offered by the Hardy’s inviting open-plan kitchen /dining area. Crisp white high-gloss cabinets give the kitchen a sleek, minimalist feel while the generous dining space alongside instantly shows how this space would make the perfect setting for entertaining friends and family.  A curving pendant antique copper light fitting over the eight seater dining table beautifully defines and ‘grounds’ the generous dining area as well as continuing the metallic theme. We’ve gone for maximum comfort with the fully upholstered dining chairs in a soft grey, ensuring this is a very relaxing environment. The lounge’s aqua accents recur in the voiles over the patio doors and are echoed by the feature wall of seagrass-coloured, hibiscus-patterned contemporary floral wallpaper.

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Master bedroom: The dramatic marbled wallpaper was the starting point for our master bedroom design which has a very upmarket boutique hotel feel. The antique gold colour of the wallpaper ties the room together, running through the gold studded headboard, the cushions and the gold voile curtains. We’ve been bold with the bedside lighting, using statement oversized gold lamps which have real impact – they’re a great example of why you shouldn’t be afraid of having large pieces in a room. I love the colour scheme; it’s basically pretty neutral, with its shades of gold and taupe, but still has lots of interest because of the different textures and fabrics, such as the crushed velvet of the chair at the dressing table and the rich sheen of the 1930s-style oyster-coloured quilt.

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Guest room: Cool and pretty shades of aqua are centre stage in the guest room, paired with polished nickel accessories including the bedhead and curtain rail.

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Child’s bedroom: This is a fun room in shades of taupe and aqua with on-trend toucans perching on the Scion wallpaper and a pair of soft toy toucans on the bed and study area.

Oakfield Grange (Lovell)Teenager’s bedroom: The fourth bedroom has been designed with a teenage girl in mind. A group of round glossy mirrors have a retro feel and we’ve also focused on showing potential of this good-sized single room using a wall-mounted bedside cabinet and flip-up top dressing table to maximise the space.

Current availability at Oakfield Grange includes three beds starting from £230,000 for the Keats house style, while the four-bedroom Hardy house style is £300,000. All are available with the Help to Buy Wales scheme.

The marketing suite at Oakfield Grange, Cwmbran, Torfaen NP44 3FP is open seven days a week, 10am – 5pm.
