Now’s The Right Time To Use Help To Buy

Posted 19 March 2020 by Keith Osborne

Lagan Homes is encouraging house-hunters to use the Help to Buy scheme now, before rules change in 2021...

With changes to the rules of the government-backed Help to Buy Shared Equity initiative from the start of 2021, Lagan Homes is encouraging house-hunters to search for a new home now to make the most of the scheme right now.

The homebuilder, right now constructing houses and bungalows across the Home Counties, East Midlands and West Midlands, is inviting people looking for a brand new property to speak to its knowledgable sales team (on 01295 201050) to find out all the details of how the scheme works and the range of properties currently available.

Help to Buy can only be used when purchasing a new build home, but isn’t restricted to first-time buyers. If you are climbing the property ladder, or downsizing from an old home, then you can currently use the scheme on a new priced up to £600,000.

Under this initiative, the buyer needs a deposit of only 5% of the price of the property – far less than it takes to buy a property without it. The government provides a loan (which is interest free for the first five years) of 20% of the price, leaving the purchaser to get a mortgage of the remaining 75%. This means that being a homeowner would need less money in the bank and a more modest income to have 100% ownership of a high-quaity, brand new home.

With Lagan Homes right now, there’s a whole range of homes with from two to five bedrooms, so something to appeal to all sort of house-hunters. Among the current developments are:

Stanford Meadow, Faringdon, Oxfordshire, where two-, three- and four-bedroom houses are priced from £470,000 to £565,000.

Lakeview, Witney, Oxfordshire, which has three-, four- and large five-bedroom homes priced between £330,000 and £800,000.

Padbury Fold, Padbury, Buckinghamshire, where everything from a two-bedroom semi-detached house to a detached five-bedroom villa is available, prices ranging from £285,000 to £700,000.

Hinton Gardens in Woodford Halse, Northamptonshire, currently offering houses with two, three or four bedrooms from £210,000 to £320,000.

Kingstone Grange in Kingstone, Herefordshire, where the range of three- and four-bedroom homes are priced between £255,000 and £310,000.

Broughton Chase in Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, with its three, four- and five-bedroom house types ranging from £320,000 to £440,000. Lagan Homes is hosting a Help to Buy event here on Saturday 21 March.
