Home of the Day – The ‘Shaftesbury’, Derby

Posted 30 July 2021 by Keith Osborne

We take a look at the ‘Shaftesbury’ house type from Redrow, which is for sale at its Durose Country Park development…

The WhatHouse? team regularly scours the market for our favourite current home and right now it’s the four-bedroom ‘Shaftesbury’ house type that Redrow is selling at Durose Country Park to the north of Derby.

The latest research from Redrow shows that 77% of consumers aspire to live in a detached home, 95% want to be near green, open spaces, and 63% feel a spare bedroom would be increasingly useful. Many are swapping gym membership for home workouts and looking for more space to accommodate this new lifestyle.

The four-bedroom ‘Shaftesbury’ house type is currently for sale on Plot 177 of Durose Country Park. It’s part of Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection, combining traditional craftsmanship on the outside with interiors designed with modern family life in mind.

An expansive open-plan kitchen, living and dining area spans the back of the property, perfect for socialising, while a separate lounge of a similar size provides the ideal place to relax and unwind. Upstairs, the master bedroom offers a haven away from the hustle and bustle of family life, and an en suite offers an extra touch of luxury. The second and third bedrooms are generously sized, and can be utilised as needed for children or guest rooms, while the fourth bedroom offers additional, multi-functional space to suit the homeowner’s lifestyle. Perfectly sized for a home office, the space can offer a dedicated working zone to provide a healthy work/life balance, or can equally be turned into a home gym, wellness space or playroom.

Durose Country ParkThis home is currently priced at £373,950 and can be purchased using Redrow’s Help to Sell scheme, which takes away a lot of the hassle for existing homeowner buyers.

Ryan O’Sullivan, head of sales at Redrow East Midlands, said: “For many of us, our lifestyles and routines have changed over the past year, and it makes sense that we’ll need to adapt our environment too. Whether it’s a private garden to spend more time outdoors, a dedicated home office or a space to blow off some steam at the end of a long day, four-bedroom homes really do provide additional flexibility to create a home tailored to your needs.

With easy access to the centre of Derby, the area around Durose Country Park is well served by a number of ‘Outstanding’ schools, and also has great proximity to green, open space. The development also has great travel links, with easy access to the A61, A6 and M1. Prices for three-bedroom homes there start at £246,950, those with four bedrooms at £343,950.
