Five homes with the latest security features

Posted 3 November 2016 by Ben Salisbury

Having the latest security features in your property helps turn a house into a home and allows a family to feel safe and secure in their property...

The importance of security at a property becomes even more apparent as winter draws in and the hours of darkness increase.

Indeed, new research from Gocompare.com shows an 8% rise in the number of burglaries in November as darker nights and the impact of bonfire night which means many people leave their homes for the night offers opportunities to potential intruders.

It is important to take precautions to keep your home safe. Keep valuables out of sight, lock up your tools, keep personal data safe, don’t leave a spare key under the matt and don’t advertise the fact that you are going on holiday on social media.

The data shows how important security is as a consideration when buying a new home. As well as costing you a lot of money and time in sorting out an insurance claim, even more importantly, being burgled impacts a homeowner’s sense of safety.

This is why it is important to have a comprehensive security system to make life more difficult for burglars. A dog can also make a significant contribution in this area in helping to deter a burglar from breaking into your home, but it’s good to take further precautions.

CCTV surveillance cameras, motion sensors and alarms are all potentially useful to make your home safer. If a criminal sees them, they are less likely to take the risk.

Home security technology is evolving quickly and here we look at five homes that utilise the latest technology to provide excellent examples of home security. Each of the properties featured have been nominated in categories for the WhatHouse? Awards 2016.
