Posted 27 September 2022 by Keith Osborne

Our regular look at the best current new homes for sale in Northamptonshire, and the best places to live…

The WhatHouse? team takes a close look at some of the best places to live in Northamptonshire and the finest brand new homes currently for sale there.

Corby

The highlights of Corby include some high-quality education (including Brooke Weston Academy, Corby Primary Academy and Corby Technical School among those rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted), facilities including the Corby East Midlands International Pool, convenient routes to major towns and cities (under 40 minutes to Northampton, Peterborough and Leicester), and a regular rail service to London St Pancras (around 70 minutes).

Francis Jackson Homes is busy at its Park View development in a central location in Priors Hall Park, which is a follow-up to its successful Willowhurst project at the site. Park View comprises 23 contemporary townhouses, with three-, four- and five-bedroom house types to fit a range of space requirements and budgets. The high-quality specification and materials on these energy-efficient homes includes underfloor heating (ground floor) and powder coated aluminium windows, and owners will benefit from ample parking as well as views and west-facing gardens. Right now, there are some five-bedroom homes for sale here with prices starting at £535,000. Find out more from Francis Jackson Homes.

Woodland ChaseWoodland Chase

Nearby is Woodland Chase, a development of 87 private properties from Lodge Park Homes. The two-, three- and four-bedroom homes have a contemporary design inside and out, with a range of layouts and a mix of two- and three-storey house types that will have broad appeal. The currently available homes have starting prices between £280,000 and £475,000. ‘The Hollyhock’, at £280,000, is a three-bedroom semi-detached house type with lounge, kitchen/dining room, utility room, cloakroom, bathroom and three good-sized bedrooms (one with en suite). At £475,000 is ‘The Poppy’. This is a detached house and there is a show home of this type for visitors to explore. The double-fronted property has an open-plan kitchen/dining room, lounge, study, utility room, four double bedrooms (one en suite) and a family bathroom. Find out more from Lodge Park Homes.

Daventry

Daventry is on the western side of the county, close to the border with Warwickshire and just off the M1, making it well connected to many major towns and cities. Schooling is widely rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted across a number of primary and secondary schools.

Talbot Homes’ Foxgrove in Byfield, just south of Daventry, is an exclusive development of just seven luxury detached homes. Six of them are now sold or reserved but there’s still a final chance to purchase, with Plot 1, ‘The Dorchester’, on sale for £610,000. Located at the end of the cul de sac and coming with a double carport, both the spacious dual-aspect kitchen/dining room and the separate lounge have French doors to the garden, and there’s also a useful utility room and downstairs cloakroom. On the first floor are the family bathroom, a study and three double bedrooms, with an en suite and walk-in wardrobe to bedroom one. The top floor has two more double bedrooms and another bathroom.

Case study: Ben at Micklewell Park, Daventry

Ben recently moved into his brand new apartment at Orbit Homes’ flagship development, Micklewell Park, in Daventry, which he purchased his new home with the Shared Ownership scheme.

The 24-year-old had been house sharing with friends before he felt it was time to get a place of his own. He was saving little and often into a Lifetime ISA and his search for a new home began after he had saved enough money for a deposit.

He commented: “My mortgage advisor was fantastic and the team at Orbit Homes were super responsive to any questions I had. The sales team were always friendly and professional.”

Ben found everything he was looking for at Micklewell Park. The location of the development, on the outskirts of Daventry, is perfect for him and his apartment has excellent countryside views from the balcony.

Commenting on what he loves most about his new Orbit Home, Ben said: “I’m surrounded by the countryside and I’m able to go for scenic walks, without having to travel far. I’m also close enough to shops and everything I need, but far enough to enjoy the outdoors.”

Micklewell Park is an exciting collection of 450 homes, featuring one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom houses, which include a mixture of rented, Shared Ownership and market sale properties. The first – comprising 108 homes – is scheduled to complete in March 2023. Find out more at www.orbithomes.org.uk.
