Retirement property for sale in Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire is a county that offers lively towns, delightful villages, beautiful countryside as well as excellent road and rail links in the heart of England. Its location is certainly one of its strengths and one of the many reasons why living here is choice more people than ever are making. Right around the border of the county are the major towns of Oxford, Milton Keynes, Leicester and Birmingham. Within Northamptonshire itself, there is include Corby, Kettering, Wellingborough and its county town of Northampton. In addition, the county has generally good value house prices which are affordable for almost every budget.

Northampton is its county town and has been going through some regeneration in recent years. For instance, its flagship shopping centre has gone through a major refurbishment and there are also plans for a new main campus in the centre of town for the University of Northampton. This will come with new student accommodation giving the town a more youthful demographic.

Many of Northampton's streets have Georgian and Victorian architecture. You'll find a lot of terraced houses and semi-detached homes. With its regeneration and improving road and rail links to London ans elsewhere, it means these cheaper prices could rise in the future. The town has some lovely areas, such as the tree-lined streets of Abington. New build homes are to be found in places such as Upton, which is around three miles east from the town centre. Moulton, Grange Park, Duston and Earl's Barton have also seen some exciting new build properties being built. There are a number of opportunities to buy off-plan with so much redevelopment going on in the Northampton area.

Outside of Northampton, there are exciting new build homes and developments happening with developers such as Taylor Wimpey, Barratt Homes and Linden Homes, as well as many others all active in the county.

In terms of transport, The county has the M1 cutting through it, giving good road access north and south. It's about a 70-mile drive to Central London. As the M1 joins the M6, Coventry and Birmingham are also easily accessible. A train from Northampton to London Euston takes just under an hour making it a good choice for those looking for a cheaper commuter area into the capital. The nearest airport is Luton which is 38 miles away from Northampton.

Northamptonshire has some beautiful countryside as well as a network of popular canals which cross the county. There are excellent sporting events going on locally such as when Formula One arrives in town at Silverstone. For restaurants, museums, shops and cinemas, Northamptonshire has an excellent choice and the county overall, particularly in terms of property and new build homes could also be described as something of a hidden gem.

For ‘shared ownership’ the monthly cost is based on an interest only mortgage rate of 5.95% per annum over 25 years with annual interest of 2.75% on the unsold share.

For ‘rent’ the monthly cost is based on the rental from the landlord or Build to Rent organisation who owns the property.
