Brand new homes for sale in St Albans

St Albans is one of the county’s most sought-after places to live, with its rich history complemented by a host of modern amenities, excellent shopping, exceptional state and private schooling, proximity to the M1 and M25 and services from two railway stations, with a journey time of as little as 21 minutes to London St Pancras. While it may be an expensive choice, the breadth of benefits of living in this cathedral city explain the demand for homes here.

Off London Road, just a 10-minute walk to St Albans City station, Crest Nicholson is constructing 74 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments at Verla, a development of three low-rise blocks in a pleasing modern design, with a communal rooftop terrace. Some units at Verla are available through Home Reach, a scheme where buyers with a modest budget can ‘part buy-part rent’ their new home, requiring a much smaller deposit and mortgage on the share they own (usually starting at 50%) and paying a subsidised rent on the remainder. A two-double-bedroom apartment here can be purchased for £250,000 (a 50% share of full market value of £500,000). There’s an en suite to bedroom one and the balcony is reached from the open-plan kitchen/living/dining room. Find out more.

As you would expect at this price point, it’s a large home set over three storeys, a detached corner plot with views to the nearby lake. There are five double bedrooms (one with en suite and dressing room), a bathroom and separate shower room to share, and a dedicated ground-floor study. Outside are a double garage, private parking and sizeable garden. As a bonus right now, the buyer has an offer to spend £60,000 on their choice of deposit contribution, Stamp Duty or alternative. There a luxury show home to view. Find out more.
