Taylor Wimpey has recently opened two new show homes at its Glenvale Park development in Wellingborough.

Show homes on new housing developments allow future homebuyers the opportunity to explore different design concepts and ways they can use the space in their own homes. The four-bedroom ‘Kingham’ and three-bedroom ‘Byford’ homes were built by the housebuilder with Show Business Interiors responsible for the interior design.

Charlotte Darby is responsible for taking the brief from a client and working with the designers to bring the concept to life. Charlotte described the process from start to finish.

Charlotte explained: “In the first instance we would meet with the team at Taylor Wimpey to discuss some basic details such as property size, layout and what they would like to achieve. We like to build up a picture of who it is that will be attracted to this home, is this a house intended to appeal to a young buyer or an established family?

“Once we have an understanding of what the client wants, I then meet with the interior designers in the studio to go through some concepts and brainstorm some ideas. At this point, we’re taking inspiration from anything we can think of and being as creative as possible. We think about how the home is going to make a potential buyer feel when they walk in, is the property north or south facing so we can take advantage of the sunlight? The interior design of the show home is meant to enhance what is already there.”

Glenvale ParkCharlotte went on to detail the next phase of the process. “A home without furniture is no good so the next thing to do is match the creative with the space available. We do this by consulting the floor plans and then thinking of how the furniture will fit into the space. The folks in the styling team will specifically buy individually pieces and create artworks which are bespoke to the show home.

“The final thing to do is decorate the property and place the furniture in its rightful space. The window treatments, installation of furniture and styling of the home takes around three days to complete.”

Rob Curry, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, said: “We’re so proud of our two show homes at Glenvale Park and the work that Charlotte and her team have put into the project. I would encourage anyone looking for interior inspiration to visit us at Glenvale Park.”
