Show Home Launches At Canalside Community In Alperton

Posted 4 August 2022 by Helen Christie

A three-bedroom show home designed by Muchmore Design has launched at the Affinity House collection at St George’s Grand Union development…

As the first private apartments at the 3,350-home Grand Union community reach completion, St George, a member of the Berkeley Group, has partnered with interior design specialists Muchmore Design to create a three-bedroom show home within its Affinity House collection.

Affinity House comprises contemporary Manhattan, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with private outdoor space for every home, with three-bedroom apartments currently for sale. Due to complete in Q3 of this year, the apartments are centered around private landscaped podium gardens with views along the Grand Union Canal.

Muchmore Design has created an interior scheme that aligns with the wider Grand Union development, its surroundings and lifestyle.

Muchmore Design’s creative director, Linsey Skepper, says: “The aim for this show home was to achieve a memorable yet sophisticated interior that drew inspiration from the waterside and landscape whilst promoting healthy living and the environment.”

Designed to create an immediate impact as soon as a prospective resident enters the apartment, you are greeted by a textural green and blue grass-cloth weave wallpaper with an overprinted pinstripe.

Linsey adds: “This approach to the show home allowed us to introduce our primary green colours for the wider scheme. Fresh, calming greens help to create inviting relaxing rooms whilst also echoing the natural tones found in and around the gardens and waterside walks at Grand Union.”

Continuing into the kitchen and living space, a luxurious light green marbleised wallpaper leads the eye into the main living area, where accompanying green velvet dining chairs connect to the wallpaper providing a harmonious feel to the show home. Touches of brass elevate the space, evoking a more premium aesthetic.

Linsey continues: “To bring the apartment to life we went with a bolder look for the bedrooms. The principal bedroom utilises hints of red and blues as well as a standout low upholstered headboard, made from recycled bottles, which is a great sustainable solution for a key feature within the room.”

Soft hints of greens can also be found in the second bedroom to create a coherent feel throughout the home.

“We also felt it important to show the functionality of the apartment and how each space could work so we decided to configure the third bedroom as a working from home space. A stunning terrazzo print wallpaper behind the desk helps to zone the work area from the relaxing reading area, which we have complemented with a mustard yellow velvet armchair to help create this work/relax space’, says Linsey.

Grand Union is a new canalside destination being delivered on the 22-acre former derelict Northfields Industrial Estate. It is being transformed into a vibrant new mixed-use neighbourhood in Alperton comprising 3,350 homes, 35% of which is affordable with the first residents already moved in, delivering homes and jobs to the London Borough of Brent.

There will also be a health centre, local supermarket and a range of onsite amenities. This includes new bars and restaurants, a two-lane bowling alley, a Twisty Tails Nursery and a residents’ lounge where residents can relax with a coffee and meet their neighbours. Across the development there will also be 300 electric vehicle charging points and 3,892 cycle storage spaces available. The new neighbourhood will also open up previously inaccessible parts of the Grand Union Canal and River Brent to the local community, creating improved routes around Grand Union and to nearby Stonebridge Park Station.

Stephen Kirwan, regional managing director, St George West London, comments: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome prospective residents to visit our new three-bedroom show home, which is located within one of our first collections of private apartments set to complete at Grand Union. Residents of our Affinity House homes will be amongst the first to enjoy the new canalside community forming here in Alperton, and we look forward to meeting them over the coming months.”

The Grand Union Marketing Suite is open daily from 10am until 6pm Monday – Saturday and 10am and 5pm on Sundays.

Prices at Affinity House currently start from £834,000 for a three-bedroom apartment.
