555-Home Development Launched In Oxfordshire

Keith OsborneSt Edward has unveiled the first homes at Highcroft, part of a big development creating 555 new homes in the Oxfordshire market town of Wallingford.
There will be a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, set within seven hectares of green space. Two show homes and a marketing suite are now open at the site providing a first opportunity for potential buyers to view the residential design of the project.
The first phase of 47 homes available at Highcroft form part of its Boulevard – located on a central avenue running through the neighbourhood. Prices range from £270,000 to £715,000.
As part of the launch, St Edward has revealed eight unique home styles, blending traditional architecture with modern interiors. The homes have been designed to reflect local building traditions, with gabled and hipped roofs, tile hanging and varied brick colours. The housebuilder is finding a lot of buyer interest to date has been form people looking to live somewhere less densely populated than where they currently live. Over 50% of enquiries have been received from potential buyers in Reading and Chelmsford.
Charlie Joseph, sales director at St Edward, said: “Launching Highcroft is a landmark moment for St Edward and Berkeley Group. Initial interest in the neighbourhood has been high, with buyers recognising its modern, open plan design, alongside the effort made to also pay homage to the area’s history and architecture.
“St Edward is committed to creating high-quality new homes. However, we also want to knit into the local community and ensure we leave a real legacy. Through close working with Oxfordshire County Council, we are supporting the creation of a primary school, while cultivating a sustainable new neighbourhood with large areas of open green space.
“Our show homes are now available to view, providing buyers with an insight into the Berkeley Group standard and our vision for Highcroft.”
Highcroft will also feature a selection of bungalows and apartments, as well as an extra care facility located on site.
Alongside new homes, St Edward is making various biodiversity enhancements at Highcroft, including planting over 1,000 new trees and creating habitats for local wildlife. Residents will also be able to use a series of shared allotments. In addition, St Edward is providing Oxfordshire County Council with land to construct a primary school and is helping to set up a new bus service for Highcroft.
A sales and marketing suite is now operational seven days a week at Highcroft, with first completions due in early 2021. Prices currently star at £362,500.
