Final Two Help To Buy Homes At Wallingford Development

Posted 24 August 2022 by Keith Osborne

There's still an opportunity to use Help to Buy on a new home at St Edward's Highcroft development in Wallington...

St Edward – part of the WhatHouse? Best Large Housebuilder 2021, Berkeley Group – has just two homes remaining for sale at its Oxfordshire development, Highcroft.

Located in Wallingford, a riverside market town on the edge of the Chilterns, midway between Oxford and Reading, Highcroft is a development offering a whole variety of homes designed with reference to the local period style, to fit in with existing characterful properties in the historic town. In addition to the homes, around 30% of the site will be landscaped open space, including a children’s play area, and there’s a new primary school coming too, which will make the development an excellent option for young families.

There are currently a number of home styles for sale hear with two or four bedrooms but the development as a whole will also include apartments, five-bedroom houses plus bungalows which means the new development really does offer homes for all generations.

Just two homes remain for sale which qualify for the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan scheme. Soon coming to an end – the final deadline for reserving a home using the scheme is 31 October 2022 – it is an initiative open to first-time buyers only and allows them to purchase with a deposit of just 5% of the purchase price, and a mortgage of 75% of the price. The remaining 20% is provided as an ‘equity loan’ but the government, which is interest-free for the first five years and is repayable when the property is sold, or after 25 years (whichever is sooner).

Help to Buy has different price caps for different regions and for the South East of England, it’s £437,600 and at Highcroft, there are two properties on sale for £410,000. Both the same property type, they have a fitted kitchen at the front of the home and a living/dining room at the rear, with French doors to the garden. Also downstairs are a cloakroom and two useful storage cupboards. Off the landing upstairs are two double bedrooms, a bathroom and another cupboard.

From Highcroft, it’s a short walk to Wallingford town centre which is served by a Waitrose supermarket, independent shops, useful amenities and plenty of options for a meal or drink.

The sales & marketing suite and show home are open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm. Find out more from St Edward.
