Utility Bills Covered At Kent Retirement Development

Posted 24 June 2022 by Helen Christie

Pentland Homes has recently announced that it will cover the cost of utility bills for new purchasers at its Terlingham Gardens development…

Pentland Homes has recently announced a unique incentive for purchasers at Terlingham Gardens, an exclusive, private over-55s development in Hawkinge, Kent.

In an effort to help ease the cost-of-living crisis for homeowners, the leading Kent developer will cover the utility bills for the first year of occupation for all new purchasers at the popular scheme. The incentive applies to those who reserve a property at Terlingham Gardens by 31 July 2022.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues to deepen, energy bills are continuing to soar, with the average annual energy bill sharply rising from £1,277 to £1,971 in April and further increases expected by the end of the year. It is this situation facing homeowners that inspired Pentland Homes to offer a meaningful incentive to purchase one of the last remaining homes at the development.

A recent survey from Age UK has concluded that around 94% of older people were worried about the rising costs and the pressure this puts on their bills. This added stress on the elderly has resulted in some having to be a lot more careful with their money and not being able to relax during their retirement or put off moving due to the potential cost.

Karrina Oki, director of sales and marketing at Pentland Homes comments: “Incentives are nothing new and can be a good way to drive interest in a development, but in this instance, we wanted to offer something that could make a real difference to people’s lives. Buying a home can be a costly and time-consuming process and we hope that this will help relieve some of the pressure of the current situation and provide our purchasers with some breathing space.”

The latest phase at Terlingham Gardens offers a collection of well-sized houses and apartments, with prices starting from £340,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and £375,000 for a two-bedroom house. Residents benefit from access to an abundance of communal spaces and green surroundings, with stunning views onto the Folkestone coastline.

One further benefit for purchasers at Terlingham Gardens is that new build homes are typically designed to be more energy efficient and as such are cheaper to run than period homes. Within the homes and apartments available, there are multiple features that are designed to make these as insulated as possible. Key features include double glazed uPVC windows, low energy lighting and underfloor heating.

Finished to the highest quality, the homes at Terlingham Gardens all feature designer kitchens, spacious bedrooms and luxury bathrooms, with sizeable open-plan interiors that offer the perfect transition for those used to large family homes. The result is the convenience of a superior quality home featuring exceptional workmanship throughout that is easy to maintain and does not feel like a typical retirement home, but a home to be proud of.

Within walking distance of Terlingham Gardens is all the essential amenities residents need, from a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy, to hairdresser, supermarket, post office and traditional countryside pub. Hawkinge is just minutes from the port town of Folkestone and the stunning Kent south coast, which provides beautiful beaches, restaurants, shops and rich historical activities.

Properties at Terlingham Gardens are available from £340,000.
