Mayor Of Alton Opens New Retirement Show Suite
There was cause for celebration as the Mayor of Alton, Councillor Ginny Boxall, paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth Place – the latest development from the leading manager and developer of retirement communities, McCarthy Stone – to officially open the new show suite as part of its Jubilee celebrations.
The Mayor joined the McCarthy Stone team, local retirees and those who have already reserved apartments at Queen Elizabeth Place to enjoy refreshments, cake, and fizz. She said: “I was thrilled to be invited to the opening of the Show Suite at Queen Elizabeth Place and join in the Jubilee celebrations. It was great to see the outstanding development which will help enhance the number of choices available for older people in Alton and beyond.”
Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone Southern, commented: “It was fantastic to mark this latest milestone at Queen Elizabeth Place whilst celebrating another huge milestone; The Queen’s Jubilee. We are all incredibly proud of the development and we were delighted to be able to unveil the exciting show suite to Councillor Ginny Boxall – the feedback so far has been great. It was also lovely to see everyone celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, the community spirit really shone through.”

Local retirees were also able to take a tour and view the social areas including the communal lounge, to experience the lifestyle on offer and find out more about how the development can help them get the most out of their retirement years.
Verity McKay continued: “We are seeing an increase in retirees deciding to take the plunge and downsize their home, so the low maintenance living available at Queen Elizabeth Place allows retirees to enjoy their independence as a part of a thriving community and spend their time doing the things they love.”
When complete, Queen Elizabeth Place will comprise of a host of one- and two-bedroom apartments for the over 60s, with the first occupants expected in August 2022. Homeowners will feel safe and secure with a house manager on hand to take care of the day-to-day running of the development, while a 24-hour emergency call system will provide added peace-of-mind. Queen Elizabeth Place will also feature a large communal lounge and landscaped gardens, perfect for getting to know your new neighbours.
