Gloucester Retirement Development Welcomes First Homeowners
McCarthy Stone has welcomed the first homeowners to Scudamore Place, its new Retirement Living development on St Ann Way in Gloucester.
Despite the uncertainties and challenges that the pandemic has presented, the team at Scudamore Place has worked closely with its new homeowners to ensure that they could move into their homes safely and benefit from being part of a new, welcoming community during these turbulent times. To celebrate the occasion and help them to settle into their new home, each homeowner was also presented with a welcome gift, including a hamper of goodies and flowers.
Jean Walters, one of the first homeowners to move into Scudamore Place, commented: “I am absolutely thrilled with my new home at Scudamore Place. The apartment’s got everything I need, including a lovely balcony with fantastic views. I feel so safe and secure here. The team here have been absolutely wonderful helping us to settle in and I look forward to getting to know my new neighbours, especially as restrictions are starting to ease. I love the apartment and couldn’t be happier in my new home!”
Samantha Watkins, deputy divisional sales and marketing director for McCarthy Stone, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome our first homeowners to Scudamore Place. It’s been an uncertain and challenging time for us all over the last year, so it is wonderful that we have been able to create a fantastic new, friendly and thriving community. We’ve had a great time meeting everyone and helping them to settle in, albeit at a distance, and look forward to being able to have lots more fun together as soon as restrictions allow.”
Designed for the over-60s, Scudamore Place features a homeowners’ lounge which is ideal for socialising with friends and new neighbours, beautifully landscaped gardens in which to relax, and a convenient hotel-style guest suite should friends or relatives wish to stay.
Properties at Scudamore Place are currently priced from £169,950 for a one-bedroom apartment and from £256,450 for a two-bedroom apartment. In addition, for maximum flexibility, part-buy part-rent and full rental options are available.
More than nine out of 10 customers would recommend McCarthy Stone to a friend, ensuring it has received the full five-star award for customer satisfaction from the Home Builders Federation for 16 years’ running. The developer McCarthy Stone also received the Housebuilder Special Recognition Award 2020 for working hard to protect its customers – Covid-19 infection rates among homeowners are significantly below the national rate of infection across all age groups – and for innovation in the retirement sector.
