Walking in A Window Wanderland

Posted 6 December 2021 by Helen Christie

This weekend, Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are hosting a Christmas Fayre and Window Wanderland at Ladden Garden Village in North Yate...

On Saturday 11 December Ladden Garden Village Action Group and local housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are hosting a Christmas Fayre and Window Wanderland, and are inviting residents and the local community to join them for some festive fun.

As the festive season gets underway, residents at Ladden Garden Village in North Yate are being encouraged to create colourful festive displays to illuminate their windows and streets, as part of the popular Window Wanderland initiative.

A magical walking trail showcasing the Window Wanderland displays will be set up for the Christmas fayre, along with activities including Santa's grotto, carol signing, crafts for children, wreath making, stalls from independent businesses and a tombola, as well as food and drink.

Hywel Snook from Ladden Garden Village Action Group says: "There is a great sense of community here at Ladden Garden Village and after the challenges of the last year or so we're delighted to be able to hold a small, safe event to bring a bit of festive cheer to this new neighbourhood."

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes will donate £20 for each home taking part to the North Bristol Food Bank, in support of the hugely important local cause and to help encourage people to get involved. A stunning Christmas display will be showcased in the on-site sales centre to inspire locals to take up the challenge.

Window Wanderland is a not-for-profit project which provides resources for communities around the world to set up their own magical window displays. Wanderlands are designed to bring neighbourhoods together in a Covid-safe way, reduce social isolation and inspire creativity.

The Ladden Garden Village sales centres will also act as food bank donation points and residents are being encouraged to drop off items which the team will deliver to the North Bristol Food Bank.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director at Barratt Bristol says: "As winter draws in, we will be creating some seasonal sparkle by putting Ladden Garden Village on the Window Wanderland map. We are hoping our festive sales centre window display will inspire residents to decorate their windows too and as an added incentive, we'll also be donating £20 to the local foodbank for every home taking part."

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes South West adds: "We are so pleased to be able to celebrate Christmas in this growing new community. We've already seen some really creative, festive window displays in some of the new homes but it's definitely a case of the more the merrier so we're looking forward to seeing lots more households taking part and helping to support such a worthwhile local cause."

Ladden Garden Village is a major new development delivering hundreds of new homes in North Yate. It features a range of one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, set within 32 acres of open space. This already established community will also include a primary school, nursery and shop when complete, as well as four acres of new play areas, sports pitches and 4.5 km of footpaths and cycleways.

One of the play areas at the southern entrance to the new neighbourhood has now opened to the public, with playground equipment for children to enjoy.
