Keith OsborneDavid Wilson Homes has opened the doors of two brand-new show homes at its recently launched St Andrews development.
Situated on the outskirts of the ‘Home of Golf’, DWH @ St Andrews forms part of WhatHouse? Award-winning Barratt Developments site alongside Barratt Homes. The development launched last summer and includes a range of properties for buyers, but has been designed with families in mind, making it the ideal choice for those with children. There are a range of three- and four-bedroom houses as well as spacious two-bedroom apartments.
The four-bedroom ‘Brechin’ and ‘Falkland’ show homes echo this, having been styled to showcase the property’s modern features and spacious surroundings but with individual character.

Kyle Downie, senior interior designer at Graeme Fuller Design, said: “Inspired by the rurality and wonderful landscapes of St Andrews, the ‘Brechin’ boasts ample living space, with an airy lounge featuring a large corner sofa and separate seating area for two. While the kitchen features an extra-large dining table for hosting and a drinks cabinet, the snug room offers a space to unwind.
“Expect sumptuous bed throws, hotel style dressing, pelmets and pooling curtains in bedroom one, with panelling and furniture to enhance the contemporary style. A duck egg blue colour flowing throughout the house ties it together perfectly, especially in the second bedroom, where natural textures and elements are used. The two other bedrooms have been designed for practicality, with plenty of storage and are ideal as study spaces or as guest rooms."
Meanwhile, the ‘Falkland’ show home maintains an opulent style, but carries a much more powerful colour scheme that homebuyers will notice when entering each room.

The designer continued: “The bronze and gold in the lounge against the black and white features makes the whole space feel extremely expensive. Moving through to the kitchen, you realise this house has a very contemporary edge to it when surrounded by the yellow wallpaper and contrasting back lit furniture.
“We carefully design our first bedrooms and lounges to resemble each other as they are the primary rooms in each house. Therefore, the main bedroom is very similar through its warm tones and luxuriousness. The upholstered panels behind each bedside were executed perfectly and add this brand-new dimension to the space.
“While bedroom two is the perfect example of a guest suite, bedroom three oozes individual character. We had fun coming up with the design as the leopard print wallpaper was new to us and this was the perfect opportunity to showcase it. The room is designed for a teenage girl who is a big pop music fan and is very multi-functional with its own reading bench and a desk in the recess.
“This family have a young child too and the wall-to-wall dog headboard in this room is the epitome of ‘show home-y’. In kids’ rooms, we love to increase the saturation of the colours. It’s a perfect and achievable way to make the space feel playful and encourage whoever’s bedroom it is to make sure you can’t see the floor for toys!”

Both show homes are now available to view. With homes at the development starting at £346,995, David Wilson Homes is currently offering buyers up to 5% towards their deposit or mortgage; or a guaranteed buyer with their Part Exchange service. Selected plots benefit from a host of extras and flooring.
Anne Ross, sales director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes East Scotland, said: “We’re excited to finally be able to welcome prospective buyers to our new show homes and experience the quality of life available to those who choose to set up home in scenic St Andrews. With spacious surroundings and cleverly designed interiors, living is made easy for both families and couples alike.
“With golden sands and famous greens on the doorstep, a home at our St Andrews development is the perfect base for discovering all the prestigious postcode has to offer.”
Located just a short drive from the world-famous Old Course and the town’s award-winning golden beaches, the properties sit just a mile to the South East of the historic centre, which is brimming with shops, cafés, restaurants and iconic food and drink destinations such as Jannetta’s Gelateria.
Excellent transport links allow easy access to all that the historic town has to offer, while commuters will find Leuchars railway station just 15 minutes away by car and Dundee a 30-minute drive from the development. Coastal day trips for families and scenic walking routes for nature lovers are also plentiful and within easy reach along Fife’s popular East Neuk.
