Shared Ownership Apartments Now Available In Stonehouse

Posted 30 September 2022 by Keith Osborne

Two- and three-bedroom home are now available on a part buy-part rent basis from Bromford at Great Oldbury...

Leading housing association Bromford has released a selection of two-bedroom Shared Ownership apartments at the major Great Oldbury development in Stonehouse.

Great Oldbury, located off Oldends Lane, now has a range of two- and three-bedroom Shared Ownership homes, which could be ideal for first-time buyers, young professionals, growing families and those seeking to downsize to a more manageable property.

Shared Ownership gives first-time buyers and those who do not currently own a property the chance to secure a new build home with Bromford. Homebuyers pay a mortgage on the share they own and pay rent on the remaining share, meaning only a smaller deposit is required.

Bromford’s Shared Ownership homes have been built specifically to meet the needs of local people, and priority will be given to those who have a connection to Stroud District Council. The local area connection is based on buyers having been a resident or employed within the area for two to five years, or having family connections who have lived in the area for at least three years.

Gloucestershire property seekers are now able to enquire about the two-bedroom ‘The Arundel’ style apartment, priced from £86,000 with a 40% share value (full market value £215,000). Currently available on both the ground floor and first floor, this apartment features a spacious, open-plan living/dining space, with a fully fitted kitchen and French doors leading out to a Juliet balcony. The apartment is completed with a main bedroom, a second double bedroom, which allows for easy conversion into a home office, together with a bathroom and handy storage cupboards. Residents will also benefit from allocated parking.

Catherine Jarrett, director of sales and marketing at Bromford, said: “We’re delighted to be unveiling our wonderful Shared Ownership apartments at Great Oldbury. ‘The Arundel’ style home is contemporary apartment, designed with modern and flexible living in mind.

“We can’t wait to welcome new residents to Great Oldbury. This is a fantastic, semi-rural development surrounded by green open space, with countryside walks and the Thames and Severn Canal Towpath on residents’ doorsteps. We expect the properties here to be very popular, so would encourage anyone who is interested to get in touch with our team without delay.”

Situated in the bustling Cotswold town of Stroud, Great Oldbury is just two-and-a-half miles away from Stonehouse town centre, providing residents with a host of shops, pubs, restaurants and health and sports facilities, as well as an impressive Farmers’ Market five miles away. Stonehouse and Stroud railway stations offer routes to London Paddington, Cheltenham, Swindon and Reading and Junction 13 of the M5 is only one mile away, providing easy access to Bristol, South Wales, the M4 and north to Gloucester and Cheltenham.
