Benefits For Nature At Popular Norwich Development

Posted 4 January 2023 by Keith Osborne

Barratt Developments has recognised the importance of plants and wildlife to complement the new homes at Cringleford Heights...

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are providing an insight into how it will ensure its Cringleford Heights development in Norfolk supports the surrounding environment.

Located off Colney Lane in Norwich, the development has been built with the intention of leaving a lasting community of wildlife, as well as new homebuyers.

Simon Wood, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, said: “As a leading housebuilder, we make it our responsibility to ensure that we provide areas where both humans and wildlife can enjoy living together. “The implantation of trees, wildflower meadows, hedgehog homes and bird and bat boxes will make a huge difference to the area’s biodiversity levels, and we hope to begin spotting these forms of wildlife at our Cringleford Heights development.”

One of the main ways in which Barratt and David Wilson Homes plans to make its Cringleford Heights development more eco-friendly is by retaining over two hectares of public open space in the area. Particularly in more urban regions, this large expanse of green space can help to achieve reductions in air pollution and improve air quality for both humans and other creatures.

Since the construction process began at Cringleford Heights, the developer has made an effort to retain any plants or trees which existed before the building took place. It will plant around 200 new trees across the development, as well as an additional two hectares of wildflower meadow, which helps to support native pollinators including bees, butterflies and moths.

In order to help the development to provide a home for living creatures, Barratt and David Wilson Homes will install 50 bird and bat boxes, two hibernacula and log piles, and a number of hedgehog highways across the site. Each of these installations will help to increase the biodiversity levels in Norwich, as well as encourage the hibernation and reproduction of living creatures in the area.

At Cringleford Heights, Barratt Homes currently offers the three-bedroom ‘Maidstone’ house type from £324,995. Overlooking open space with trees and an orchard, the major offer on this home totals well over £20,000, combining a mortgage contribution and upgraded kitchen, flooring and shower. David Wilson Homes is offering three- and four-bedroom houses with starting prices from £381,995 to £576,995, which for a limited time can be reserved from just £99. There are a host of major offers here too, incorporating Stamp Duty contributions and upgrades.

Barratt Homes has other current developments in Norfolk. Ceres Rise in Swaffham, with three- and four-bedroom homes from £259,995, many of which come with special offers worth thousands of pounds. Waylands Fields in Watton, where three- and four-bedroom houses start from £272,995. There are big offers on selected plots, with some new releases providing a wider choice of property types. Woodland Heath in Sprowston, another range of three- and four-bedroom properties from £301,995, with a number of new releases and some significant special offers.

David Wilson Homes has its own collection of house types at Woodland Heath, with three- and four-bedroom homes from £353,995.
