Show Home Launch Highlights Housebuilder’s Kent Offerings

Posted 18 July 2023 by Keith Osborne

Barratt Developments currently has a host of property types and special offers at its sites across Kent...

Barratt Developments – the former WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year, which sells new build properties under the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands – has news that underlines its activity on sites across Kent.

David Wilson Homes unveiled its latest two show homes at Richmond Park in Whitfield, Dover. Having launched earlier this year, the development comprises three- and four-bedroom homes, currently starting at £316,995, with 40 acres of green open space surrounded by the countryside of Kent.

Both show houses are designed to appeal to young professional couples and families to demonstrate the wider lifestyle at Richmond Park. The ‘Greenwood’, which is a three-bedroom home, is split over three levels and featuring a dining room, study and kitchen on the bottom floor, a lounge and bedroom to the middle, and two bedrooms on the top.

The ‘Ingleby’ has a Scandinavian design. The ground floor offers a spacious kitchen-diner with French patio doors to the garden, with a lounge to the front and separate storage cupboards to avoid clutter. The first floor has four bedrooms and one en suite, with the smallest bedroom offering the opportunity for a work from home space.

Andrew Henry, director at Andrew Henry Interiors, commented: “These homes are designed to cater to modern family’s needs and young professional’s lifestyle. Our goal was to allow buyers to envisage themselves living in these homes from the moment they step into the show homes, knowing that they have enough space and flexibility to make it their own.”

Natalie Perry, sales and marketing director at David Wilson Kent, commented: “Flexible and spacious homes are often at the top of buyer’s needs, and we feel that our two new show homes of the ‘Ingleby’ and the ‘Greenwood’ perfectly reflect this.”

“We also understand that the housing market is posing challenges surrounding affordability at the moment, therefore at David Wilson Kent we have introduced a number of measures to help buyers in Dover and further afield. All homes come with heightened energy efficiency as standard, but we also offer our Deposit Unlock scheme which allows buyers to purchase with just a 5% deposit, and we have also recently announced the extension of our Key Worker Deposit Contribution scheme which is available until 15 December 2023 and offers a £1,000 contribution for every £20,000 of a purchase price.”

Barratt Homes at Richmond Park is a neighbouring collection of three- and four-bedroom homes starting at £312,995, with its own array of special offers on selected plots. This includes 0% or 5% deposit, Part Exchange, or a choice of mortgage or deposit contributions. Many of the homes here come with upgrades in things like kitchens and flooring included in the price. One of the homes for sale is a show house, called the ‘Moresby’. For £332,995, the buyer gets a three-bedroom mid-terrace home with southwest-facing garden and two private parking spaces.

Richmond Park is located in the historic town of Whitfield, on the outskirts of Dover. The development is also home to a flourishing community, with a new primary school and convenience store onsite. Local amenities include a village hall, local pubs and cafes, and a post office, and further afield is the Honey Wood Retail Park. Just a short drive away is Dover. There’s easy access to the A2, and Dover Priory station offers High Speed rail services to London St Pancras in 73 minutes.

For future homes, the first brick has been placed on site at The Poppies development in Hermitage Lane, Aylesford. This will offer a range of new homes, from three- to four-bedroom homes, with a 60/40 split of private and social affordable homes. Set to launch from a new sales suite and two show homes at the end of the year, the first residents are poised to move in at the start of 2024.

Kimberley Benson, sales and marketing director for Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties, commented: “We are really pleased to be launching our latest development The Poppies which will deliver much-needed new homes to the area to suit a diverse range of buyers, whatever their stage on the property ladder. In particular, we anticipate high demand from local buyers, as there is currently a very limited new homes market in the local area.”
