Teddy Bear Theme At New Telford Show House

Interior designers Blocc took an inspired approach to decorating a themed children's room at Castle Gardens...

In a bid to celebrate the local area a brand new show home in Telford is paying homage to the old-fashioned teddy bear factory in the area with a themed room.

Barratt Homes, which is building properties at Castle Gardens on The Bache off Wellington Road, has teamed up with expert interior designers Blocc to ensure its ‘Alderney’ style show house captures the family feel of the property.

The teddy bear room, which is designed to show what it would look like if twins lived there, features accessories such as twin beds, standing teddy bear decorations, bedside storage and a single wall behind the beds that features the painted teddy bear’s picnic.

Suzanne Thomas, creative sales director at Blocc Interior Designers, said: “For the designs of the interiors we really wanted to draw on the history of the local area, and with the Teddy Bear factory so close by it was the perfect theme to incorporate. With the ‘Alderney’ home we took the approach of a classic modern, luxurious style with the idea of family living. Using a combination of creams, warm taupe and beiges with golds, teals and emerald greens, we really wanted to capture the idea of luxury.”

In contrast, a more pragmatic design was taken into account for the three-bedroom ‘Ellerton’ show home with a particular focus on the contemporary work from home lifestyle.

“We really wanted this home to be aspirational yet achievable to fit with on-trend, modern needs. A cold-colour approach with tonal blues, soft teals and muted sage green flows through the property to promote a calm, comfortable space to both live and work in. Bedroom three serves this exact purpose as a dual-purpose room. Featured is an office desk with wall shelving alongside a single divan dressed as a daybed covered in cushions. Practical, stylish and spacious; the perfect home office.”

Putting aside their own inspired décor, Suzanne also offered some helpful tips on how to decorate your own home.

“You should always live with a space first instead of rushing to decorate it so you can get a real idea of what the room needs to make a house a home. Building around a particular favourite item, whether it is a piece of art, cushion or particular wallpaper, is also a great start to any developing design.”

Castle Gardens is located on the outskirts of Telford, offering pleasantly quiet surroundings whilst being located close to main roads, including easy access to Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool. The range of three- and four-bedroom homes start from £228,995, with Help to Buy available on selected plots. Find out more from Barratt Homes.
