Show Home Room By Room: Elmhurst Chase, Carterton
WhatHouse? Award-winning developer Miller Homes has recently unveiled its first and only show home at its Elmhurst Chase development in Carterton, to the west of Oxfordshire.
The four-bedroom Baywood show home at Elmhurst Chase focuses on countryside family living, and incorporates rural design trends with modern twists to create talking points throughout the home. Inside, an open-plan kitchen and dining room spans the width of the home downstairs, while separate utility and study rooms provide additional space for growing families to utilise. Upstairs, the bedroom designs have been chosen to suit all the family, with a range of themes on display.
The home was designed by Edward Thomas Interiors. Speaking on the design, director Andy Richardson, says: “Styling for The Baywood focuses on family living, entertaining and the great outdoors. It’s aimed at parents and young teenagers with an active social life, who enjoy being together but also pursuing individual hobbies. Shared spaces like the kitchen/breakfast room and living room have plenty of seating and opportunities to gather formally and informally, while the bedrooms showcase expressions of personality.”
Living room

The main living space of the home has been created with countryside views in mind, using earthy tones to create a varied scene with accent furniture pieces of all different colours combining together to mirror the statement feature wall which is adorned by a botanical-print wallpaper.
Kitchen/diner

Taking inspiration from one of the latest TikTok trends, the open plan nature of this room provided a perfect canvas to add a modern twist to a classic design, using a splash of turquoise across the walls which run alongside the premium feel of the Baywood’s kitchen interior features, including the charcoal cupboards with rose gold handles.
The countryside, outdoor theme continues throughout this room with the dining table surrounded by dark terracotta leather chairs, wooden bar stools against the kitchen island area and the framed bird prints on the wall overhanging the dining table itself.
Bedroom one

Wall treatments, which remain a hot trend, have been used to further highlight the countryside feel to the show home in the bedroom, with wooden panelling behind the bed’s headboard painted in forest green, with yet more botanical prints on the wallpaper above the bed.
The same forest green colour has been used to continue the theme via the bedspread throw, and the accent chair against the glass dressing table. Smaller accessories including the branch-like light fitting and leaf-shaped window ornaments further the outdoor mindset in the Baywood’s main bedroom.
Bedroom two

A full-length, hand-painted mural adorns the wall behind the bed in this room and features an off-road cyclist through the forest, inspired by the country park nearby Elmhurst Chase.
This bedroom also features a quirky bike-themed print on the wall, hung upside down to create the effect of a rider who has fallen off their bike, as well as a laddering shelving unit which has been dressed to create a home-working or study space for a teenage student.
A range of three- and four-bedroom homes are currently available for purchase at Elmhurst Chase in Carterton, with prices starting from £370,000.
