Deposit Contribution Scheme Helps Paramedic Buyers In Rugby

Posted 5 January 2021 by Keith Osborne

Jack and Felicity were able to purchase their first home sooner than planned thanks to a special offer from David Wilson Homes...

Using David Wilson Homes’ NHS deposit contribution scheme helped a couple of paramedics secure their first home together at The Moorings in Rugby.

Jack Dudley (23) and Felicity Fowler (22), who are both based at Mereway Ambulance Station in Northampton, weren’t planning to purchase their first home in 2020 but jumped at the chance to make the most of David Wilson Homes’ 5% deposit boost at the Crick Road development.

Originally from Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon, the couple were living separately with their friends but managed to get on the property ladder sooner than they thought due to the great savings on a deposit for their first home.

Jack said: “We hadn’t planned to move in together in 2020 at all, but when we saw David Wilson Homes had launched a deposit contribution scheme for NHS employees we jumped on it. It’s such a generous offer and we’ve made a huge saving on our deposit. We’d just raised a 5% deposit ourselves through putting a certain amount away each month, so it came at a great time for us.

“The Moorings offered the ideal location for us as it’s just over a 20-minute drive on the M1 for us to get to the ambulance station, and we’re still close to our parents.”

David Wilson Homes launched the NHS deposit contribution scheme in May as a heartfelt thank you to all NHS employees who have shown courage in the face of the Covid-19 crisis, and in November 2020 the company announced its extension of the scheme until June 2021.

Jack and Felicity purchased a ‘Kennett’ style home, a three-bedroom, three-storey semi-detached property.

Jack continued: “Our new home flows really well and there’s plenty of space across three floors. We really liked how private the main bedroom is on the top floor, as when guests stay over they can use one of the double bedrooms on the first floor.

“Since moving in, I’ve replaced the existing thermostat and changed all of the light bulbs to create a smart home. The heating and lights are now automated and connected to our phones, which is so convenient.”

With a new community forming at The Moorings, the couple are looking forward to the new shops soon to be built in the local area. They’ve so far enjoyed having Swift Valley Nature Reserve close to home, as well as The Tuning Fork, a popular café among local residents on their doorstep.

Felicity added: “It’s a peaceful community and is beginning to look really good. Our neighbours are lovely and we’ve even agreed to match our front gardens with plants and overall design.”

Rachael Harrison, sales director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said: “Our NHS deposit contribution scheme has assisted many new homebuyers since its launch, and we’re delighted to hear it’s helped Jack and Felicity speed up their journey to a new home at The Moorings.”

There is currently a selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes available at The Moorings with prices starting from £219,995.
