A Dream Home And Community After Moving In At Irthlingborough

Posted 2 March 2021 by Keith Osborne

Chris and Wendy Forton have found a perfect home and close-knit community after downsizing to Diamond Heights...

When the last of their three children decided to fly the nest, Chris and Wendy Forton swapped their four-bedroom property in Irthlingborough for a brand new three-bedroom detached house on the other side of town.

The couple were among the first people to move into Davidsons Homes’ Diamond Heights development last October – and they are enjoying being part of the close-knit community which has already formed there.

Diamond Heights, located off Attley Way, will eventually comprise 88 new homes alongside green open space and a play area.

Chris, 48, said: “Early last year, we started to fall out of love with our old estate. We looked at doing the house up at first – after all, it was the place where we brought up our children, but we also considered moving.

“After we found Diamond Heights online, we called Linda, the sales manager, and she suggested that we could visit a nearby development to see the style of Davidsons Homes properties in person. We liked what we saw and reserved our home the following week.”

When Chris and Wendy decided to sell their home of 17 years at the beginning of last year, they knew they wanted to stay local to be near their children and five grandchildren.

Wendy, 53, said: “We are looking forward to watching Diamond Heights continue to grow. We are especially looking forward to seeing the communal areas start to take shape, as our grandchildren will enjoy playing outside in the summer.

“There is a real community starting to form here. About a dozen of us have moved in so far, and we all try to keep in touch. We have made two social media pages for us to chat on, which helps us keep up to date on the development and also stay connected as a neighbourhood.”

The couple purchased ‘The Ford’ house type, a three-bedroom detached property with a spacious lounge and open-plan kitchen-dining room.

Wendy said: “I like the front of our home. It looks exactly like how you would draw a house, with a door in the middle and a window on each side. It’s lovely.

“As we reserved off-plan, we were able to choose a lot of the tiles, cabinets and flooring that went into the house, so we were very excited to finally move in and see what it was like once all finished. When we received the keys, we were more than ready to move in and had everything unpacked and organised within a week!

“Our favourite room is the lounge. It’s a big space which is great to relax in at night, but we spend most of the day in the kitchen-dining room. We’ve put a settee by the patio window so in the summer, when the grandchildren come round, we will be able to relax inside and watch them play in the garden.

“It feels great to be in our new home. Now we’re just looking forward to being able to have our children and grandchildren round to enjoy the space with us.”

Chris, who works in Milton Keynes, and Wendy, who works in Wellingborough, are also enjoying having two popular beauty spots on their doorstep.

Chris said: “Being so close to the likes of Stanwick and Rushden Lakes is lovely. We like to go out for afternoon walks with our Labrador, Milly, when we can, and having these lovely locations so close to us is fantastic.”

A selection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes are currently available to purchase at Diamond Heights, with prices starting from £234,995.
