David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes have some impressive developments in Cambridgeshire, with more launching, and some with special offers available.

We've rounded up a selection of Cambridgeshire developments...

Hampton Beach in Peterborough

Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes are due to launch the first phase of homes at its brand new Hampton development, Hampton Beach, this winter.

Located on Waterhouse Way, a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes will be available, ideal for a variety of house-hunters including first-time buyers looking to make the step on to the property ladder, and growing families looking for more space.

With only a handful of properties remaining at Barratt Homes’ Hampton Water development nearby, Hampton Beach will be an ideal option for those looking to make a move to the Peterborough area.

Will Phair, sales director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, says: “We’re very excited to be launching these new homes at Hampton Beach. With how popular our Hampton Water development has been, we’re advising anyone interested in making a move to the area to register their interest to hear about the first homes available.”

Hampton Beach will have a range of amenities nearby including a primary school on the development, as well as Hampton Gardens School and Hampton Nursery also close by, so all age groups are tailored for.

Many of the homes at Hampton Beach will benefit from uninterrupted views of Teardrop Lake, and there will also be cycle lanes, footpaths and picnic benches around the lake meaning all residents will be able to enjoy the natural beauty Hampton Beach has to offer.

Whittlesey Lakeside in Whittlesey

Barratt Homes is set to launch a new development in Whittlesey. The first release of properties at Barratt Homes’ new development in Whittlesey, Whittlesey Lakeside, will be ready to reserve this Saturday 15 October.

Located on Eastrea Road, the development will bring 203 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes, ideal for a variety of house-hunters including first-time buyers, downsizers and growing families.

The first homes available to reserve include the two-bedroom Kenley style home, the four-bedroom Radleigh style home, and the four-bedroom Alderney style home.

Will Phair, sales director at Barratt Homes Cambridgeshire, says: “We’re very excited to be launching our new homes at Whittlesey Lakeside. With the popularity of our nearby Hampton Water development in mind, we’re advising anyone interested in making a move to our latest community to act quickly and register their interest.

Whittlesey Lakeside will have a range of amenities nearby including Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ nurseries, primary schools and a secondary school. There is also a leisure centre, swimming pool and football pitches just a short walk away.

There will be an Aldi supermarket built at the development, as well as a play area and expansive open space. The development also benefits from great commuter links with Peterborough being just seven miles away, and the city’s train station within two miles.

Trumpington Meadows in Cambridge

Trumpington Meadows from Barratt Homes is an ideal combination of city living with easy access to plenty of green open spaces. Set within 148 acres of a scenic country park protected by the British Wildlife Trust, there are just eight apartments remaining at Trumpington Meadows. Cambridge city centre is just three miles away, and the University of Cambridge is a 16 minute cycle. For those with young children, Trumpington Primary School is within the development.

Barratt Homes is currently offering to contribute £1,000 per month towards mortgage payments for a year, on homes reserved in October. The two-bedroom apartments start from £407,400.

Darwin Green in Cambridge

An international couple have set down their roots at David Wilson Homes’ Cambridge development, Darwin Green.

After needing to upsize since having a child, Dr Brittany Schorn, 37, a lecturer at University of Oxford, and Dr Rory Naismith, 39, a lecturer at University of Cambridge, recently moved with their four year old daughter, Yseult. The family moved into a new four-bedroom detached ‘Thorney’ style home at the Huntingdon Road development.

Brittany, who is from Texas, and Rory, who is from Edinburgh, were previously renting a flat in central Cambridgeshire. The couple decided it was time to step on to the property ladder and upsize to a bigger home following the birth of their daughter.

Brittany says: “We planned to start a family and start saving for our own home following the completion of our post-graduate degrees. With a small child, it was important to us to choose a property that would not need significant work done, which is why we went with a new build home. We also find the layout of new build homes more suited to family life, for example having an open-plan ground floor room where we can cook dinner together and watch over our daughter while she plays.

“One of the main reasons we chose to live at Darwin Green was due to its location. It is an easy and pleasant walk into the University, and it has easy access to the motorway out of Cambridge. There are many nice places nearby to walk with our toddler, as well as convenient shops and schools. There is a real community feel here, our neighbours are very friendly and helpful.”

Darwin Green is located a 1.6 mile walk away from the centre of the historic university city. Residents can also gain quick and easy access into Cambridge with cycle and pedestrian friendly routes to and from the development. The development also has great commuter links for working professionals, including the ability to reach London Kings Cross from Cambridge by train in under an hour.

Darwin Green will feature a wide range of amenities including its very own central park which will feature 15 acres of open space, and high quality sport pitches.
