Couple Buy New At Isle Of Wight Development
Matt Townsend, 27, and Danni Warner, 28, have been together for 10 years, but were priced out of their local property market due to soaring house prices.
The couple were unsure if they’d be able to purchase a property on the Island until they visited St George’s Gate development for WhatHouse? Award-winning developer Barratt Homes.
Matt says: “Second-hand homes on the Island are often being sold above the asking price, so it was hard for us to judge what we could afford. Barratt’s new homes are sold at a fixed price however, so at St George’s Gate, we knew exactly what was within our budget.”
Keen not to waste any time, the duo quickly reserved a two-bedroom starter home at the leading housebuilder’s development in Newport, near to where they work and close to family.
Danni says: “I work in Newport and Matt works just outside, so as well as being affordable, St George’s Gate is in the perfect location for us. We’re also close to Matt’s mum in Shanklin and my mum in Lake, so we couldn’t be happier.”
Matt and Danni moved into their brand new Barratt home at the end of March and, as well as saving money on their purchase, they are already seeing the benefits of buying a brand new home.
Matt adds: “The great thing about buying a new build property is that you can move in and make it your own immediately. We did consider buying a more affordable second-hand home in need of work, but we’re so glad we bought at St George’s Gate. We’ve saved ourselves so much time, and our first home is already looking just the way we want it to.”
The developer’s two-bedroom Belmont property has become the first home for Matt and Danni. It has an open plan lounge and dining room and French doors opening onto the garden. On the ground floor there is also a modern, separate kitchen. Upstairs there is one double bedroom, one single bedroom and a family bathroom. The home also comes with extra storage space and parking.
Danni adds: “The Belmont gave us a great feeling as soon as we looked around the show home. It is an ideal first home for us, and we can’t wait to have friends and family over.”
