A Forever Home After Covid Delays Wedding Plans
A couple have become the first homeowners at a new development in Bedhampton – after Covid put pay to two planned wedding dates and one house move.
Jon Carter (39) and Vikki Chikomo (37) were the first to move in at Barratt Homes’ Harbour Place development close to Havant town centre, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the engaged couple.
The pandemic has meant that Jon and Vikki have had to cancel two wedding dates (in August 2020 and May 2021) and have also had a house move fall through. The couple are now celebrating moving into their ‘forever’ home at Harbour Place, however.
Jon said: “It’s been a challenging year, but we are over the moon to be starting the next chapter of our lives at Harbour Place. This house is our forever home, and as we get settled in here with our new wedding date to look forward to in November, we couldn’t be happier.”
Managing director Jon and nurse Vikki moved on to the development in August as the very first occupants and are now settling into the new community, between Bedhampton and Drayton, with their new neighbours.
Vikki said: “It was lovely for us to be the very start of the community journey here, and now it’s great to be welcoming our new neighbours, sharing in our new home excitement. I know we’ll make some friends for life here.”
Harbour Place is a collection of homes in an ideal location close to Havant town centre and with easy reach of Chichester and Portsmouth. The development has been in high demand since its launch.
Tammy Bishop, Barratt Homes sales director, is looking forward to many more homebuyers choosing the development as their home. She said: “Harbour Place is in a great location and has easy access to all local amenities. With a number of stylish homes on offer here, there will be many people deciding to make it their home. Being the first residents on a development is a special thing and we couldn’t be happier for Jon and Vikki. With a challenging 18 months behind them, they can now look forward to getting settled into their new home and enjoying a happy future together.”
The happy couple chose the three-bedroom ‘Kingsville’ property as their forever home. This elegant home has a spacious open-plan kitchen/breakfast/dining area on the ground floor, with French doors leading out to the garden, and a study for home working. On the first floor, there’s a good-sized living room, main bedroom and en suite. On the second floor, there are two further bedrooms together with a family bathroom. The home also comes with a single detached garage and two parking spaces.
Jon added: “The décor, build style and finish in our ‘Kingsville’ home is exceptional – we are besotted.”
As a moving-in gift, Barratt Homes presented Jon and Vikki with a hamper of goodies. Packed full of locally sourced treats, the hampers will be handed over to all new residents at the Bedhampton development.
Harbour Place is a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. With direct access to both the M27 and the A3, it has excellent links to Portsmouth, Southampton and London. Just a short drive away is Havant town centre, with its variety of shops, cafés and restaurants to choose from. There are also a great choice of local nurseries and 'Good' Ofsted rated schools nearby.
Prices start from £297,500. Find out more about Harbour Place from Barratt Homes.
