Demand for three-storey living is increasing, leading to more choice of these house types Linden Homes’ Laithwaite Gardens...

Three-storey living has become increasingly popular with housebuyers due to a rise in home working and multi-generational living, according to Vistry East Midlands.

The Peterborough-based housebuilder, part of Vistry Group which includes Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is adding more triple-storey homes to its portfolio to meet the growing demand for flexible living spaces.

Linden Homes’ Laithwaite Gardens development in Sutton, near Ely, is among those to feature three-storey homes among its housing mix, with only two five-bedroom ‘Colcutt’ house designs now available, as the development nears the end of its sales programme.

A range of three-storey houses, including the three-bedroom ‘Girton’ and the four-bedroom ‘Woodhurst’ and ‘Yaxley’ types, are also being built at Linden Homes’ The Boulevards development in Northstowe.

Charlotte Barber, sales manager for Vistry East Midlands, said: “With three-storey homes increasing in popularity, there is a growing need for properties which offer practical and flexible layouts that can be adapted to suit ever-changing lifestyles.

“In recent months – and particularly during lockdown – there has been a noticeable rise in enquiries from buyers searching for a property with more than two floors. With many people now working from home or housing multiple generations under one roof, space has become an even more precious commodity, and that is leading to a growing demand for three-storey homes.

“The detached ‘Colcutt’ house is ideally equipped for those seeking more space and privacy. With a large dormer bedroom in the roof space and four generously sized bedrooms on the second floor, it is perfect for large families and multi-generational households.

“The three-bedroom ‘Girton’ and the four-bedroom ‘Woodhurst’ and ‘Yaxley’ house types at The Boulevards will also cater for buyers seeking the extra privacy that three-storey living provides.”

There are currently two ‘Colcutt’ homes available to buy at Laithwaite Gardens, priced from £499,995. Find out more at lindenhomes.co.uk.
