The Gateway by L&Q – Show Home Room by Room

WhatHouse? takes a tour of the show home at The Gateway, L&Q’s first major development in West London…

Built in one of London’s most desirable postcodes in Chiswick, The Gateway is L&Q’s first major development in West London, bringing new homes to London’s eclectic urban village.

Client director for Interiors by DAPA, Rob Burton, explains the influences on the design of L&Q’s new two-bedroom show home at The Gateway.

The Gateway (L&Q)Kitchen: We wanted to create a truly liveable space, and show how versatile this room can be - the open plan layout is perfect for entertaining, and we wanted to make it feel like the heart of the home. Working with the oak-effect fitted kitchen units – which taps into the organic trend sweeping the interiors shows at the moment – we brought deep jewel tones and mixed patterns into the room, accessorising with hints of gold and bronze. Chiswick High Road is full of exciting, independent businesses and we wanted to bring a bit of the local area into the home, so we sourced a selection of stand out pieces from local favourite, The Italians, including a coffee maker and delicious smelling beans.

The Gateway (L&Q)Living room/dining: The corner sofa establishes two distinct zones for the living and dining spaces, with the beautiful emerald velvet piping creating texture and interest.  Mixing patterns and colours in the decorative cushions on the sofa creates a relaxed feeling, while the marble coffee table and carved sideboard bring an element of sophistication to the room. Bespoke painted canvases add pops of colour to the palette, while velvet and brass-finished dining chairs match the geometric table to elevate the dining area. Bold lighting fixtures and a fun, contemporary take on the classic cuckoo clock finish the space.

The Gateway (L&Q)Master bedroom: We chose a mix of furnishings that feature clean lines and lux detail to create a unique, individual character for the room. The matching dressing and bedside tables are stained ebony and feature brass frames, while the velvet fringed dressing chair and animal hide headboard add personality, and tie into the style of the living room/kitchen. We continued to take advantage of the independent high street by sourcing a selection of key accessories, including Kaiser vases on the dressing table, from The Old Cinema, a nearby antique store.

The Gateway (L&Q)Second bedroom: This was the most conceptual room design. Blush pink is on trend at the moment – its soft hue is a fresh take on neutral colours compared to standard grey or beige. Terrazzo is traditionally a tile design, but the speckled pattern is appearing in different interior aspects, and we’ve used terrazzo patterned wallpaper to create a focal point in the room. The brass framed triple wall mirror is a real favourite of mine – it’s so unique, and brings a bit of a fun to the space! The scalloped headboard is the real focal point of the bedroom, with the white marble, brass and rose tinted glass marble lamps adding to the 70s style.

The Gateway (L&Q)Bathrooms: Working alongside the minimalist style and neutral ceramic tiles, we brought in the pastel colours used elsewhere in the home through super soft towels, accessorising further with marble, gold and brass elements. Diffusers are a great way to bring a subtle scent into a bathroom, and a stylish house plant rounds off the contemporary feel.

The first launch of homes includes one-bedroom apartments, with prices from £460,000, and two-bedroom apartments, with prices starting from £575,000. Help to Buy is available on all homes under £600,000.

The Marketing Suite and show home is open Monday 10am – 5pm, closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday – Saturday 10am – 5pm and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
