The Denham Film Studios by L&Q - Show Home Room by Room
WhatHouse? takes an exclusive look around L&Q’s Shared Ownership apartments at The Denham Film Studios. Formerly known as the ‘Hollywood of the Home Counties’, the surviving Grade II Listed laboratory was once home to some of the world’s greatest film franchises – from Star Wars to James Bond.
Stacey Winn, creative director at Vesta Interior Design, explains the influences behind her design of L&Q’s new show home…
Kitchen: The contemporary kitchen is styled with a collection of lifestyle dressings in brass and natural stone finishes to complement the living room furniture. Vintage style glass coffee cups and bottled oils add a homely touch whilst the movie themed books honour the cinematic history of the studios. The potted botanicals add a splash of green to bring the outside in.
Living room: The velvet textiles on the sofa and dining chairs are a nod to the old cinema seating upholstery; the industrial set lighting and curated accessories reminiscent of items that would have lined a movie prop room. The cinematic theme continues in the movie poster artwork and storm trooper whisky decanter. We combined brass, stone and walnut timber finishes with an autumnal burnt orange and green colour palette to complement the furniture forms, highlighting the functionality and fluidity of these contemporary apartments. There is also a subtle art deco influence in the embossed armchair cushion.
Bedroom: We created a dramatic stage effect with the creative use of painted wall panels running up from behind the bed and onto the ceiling, providing the perfect contrast for the statement industrial lighting. The soft furnishings are a combination of sage velvet and art deco leather and the wardrobe is styled with glamourous Hollywood inspired apparel.
Prices start from £96,875 for a 25% share of a two-bedroom apartment (full market value £387,500)
