Bellway has recently opened the doors for the first time to a four-bedroom show home at St George’s Gate, a development of 27 two- and four-bedroom homes in the heart of Tooting.

Situated within walking distance of tube and railway stations, the development is designed to appeal to commuters working within central London, as well as young families and investors.

Nathan Stevenson, Managing Director for Bellway South London, says: “Tooting has established itself as one of the most up and coming areas in London, and we were not at all surprised to see it listed as one of the top ten neighbourhoods in the world by Lonely Planet earlier this year. With this in mind, we wanted to make this a show home which would do its surroundings justice.

“That’s why we chose to appoint Showbusiness Interiors, as we felt they really grasped the cosmopolitan and vibrant feel we wanted to go for.”

WhatHouse? has taken a closer look at the interior of the Marsden show home at St George’s Gate.

Kitchen: The modern kitchen in the Marsden appeals to minimalist tastes, with soft greys and beiges creating a calming atmosphere. No handles on the cabinets mean that the surface is sleek and inviting, and all utensils and appliances can be neatly stored away. Luxurious touches such as a built-in wine cooler create an executive air, ideal for the discerning professional the kitchen is designed for.

Living room: The open-plan kitchen leads through to the dining room and then onto the lounge area, where a more vibrant colour palette has been used. Mustard yellows and cobalt blues pop against a background of pure white, with modern black accessories punctuating the room. Light floods in from the triple French doors leading out to the garden, while art on the walls picks out the dominant colours from the theme.

Downstairs bathroom: The blue and yellow theme continues into the downstairs bathroom, with strong lines and bold colours dominating the room. The light grey of the tiles and pure white of the appliances act as the perfect counterbalance to the punchy, vibrant colours used on the walls and accessories, meaning the overall feeling is homely rather than overbearing.

First bedroom: Flashes of colour act as pinpoints of vibrancy on a clean white background in this bedroom. The padded headboard and plump textiles on the bed are luxurious and welcoming, while the prints on the wall add a touch of personality. The stark black picture frames are mirrored by the line of black on the curtains and the flash of black on the base of the bed, which along with the fabric on the cushions creates a distinctly Far-Eastern feel.

Second bedroom: Luxe is the name of the game in this bedroom, with heavy velvet curtains and cushions creating an opulent air. Blue and yellow continue to dominate, but they are richer and deeper in this room, creating a grown-up atmosphere. The room is so spacious that those deep colours don’t dominate, but the feeling of luxury and calm continues to permeate. Canary yellow accessories add points of interest, meaning your eye continues to move around the room.

Prices at St George’s Gate start from £859,995 for a four-bedroom home. For more information visit bellway.co.uk.
