New Homes In Somerset For £200,000 Budget

Buyers on a £200,000 budget can find an excellent array of new homes to consider across Somerset...

Somerset is a county that offers a lot to homebuyers with its range of rural and urban settings, tradition and re-generation, and some excellent transport links. For house-hunters on a limited budget, it also offers a great range of brand new homes to consider right now.

It’s a great time to act to secure a new home whether you are a first-time buyer or moving from a current home, as right now there’s a Stamp Duty holiday, the availability of Help to Buy, and for some homes, there's a chance to part buy-part rent. Between them, these things can save money and require a smaller deposit and mortgage.

£200,000 is considerably less the national and county average property prices but there are some excellent new build homes available.


Two-bedroom house, from £200,000, Wells

The AmberleyPriory Fields is a development on the outskirts of the beautiful medieval city of Wells. ‘The Amberley’ is a house type with open-plan kitchen, dining area and sitting room with French foors to the rear garden, downstairs cloakroom, two double bedrooms and a bathroom.  ‘Elsenham’Langford Fields, on the edge of the Mendip Hills . has an impressive range of three- and four-bedroom homes. Thanks to the Home Reach scheme, which allows qualifying buyers to purchase half the home and pay rent on the other half, the spacious ‘Elsenham’ house type starts well under £200,000. A Guide To Part Buy Part Rent
Part Rent Part Buy is a scheme you can use with Home Reach where you buy a share of your chosen newly built home and pay a monthly rent on the part you don’t buy. Your budget will decide the size of the share you buy, rather than the size of your home. So, you might decide to buy a bigger share of a lower priced home or a smaller share of a more expensive home.

You are able to purchase your share in either cash savings or by taking out a mortgage. If you are taking out a mortgage to finance your share, you will need to allow for a minimum of 5% deposit. The larger your deposit (typically 10%) the lower your mortgage repayments are likely to be.
