Show Home Room by Room – The Highgrove at Ryarsh Park

Posted 29 June 2016 by Helen Christie

WhatHouse? takes a look at this beautiful family show home in West Malling, Kent and finds out some of the style details room by room...

Accessed via a sweeping tree-lined avenue, the enduring sense of grandeur is immediately apparent from the moment you arrive at Redrow’s Ryarsh Park development in West Malling, Kent.

Enjoying a prime position at the front of the development, the 'Highgrove' show home has a commanding presence befitting the leafy location.

Redrow’s Group interior design manager Emma Brindley gives WhatHouse? a tour of the show home and explains the inspiration behind the stunning interior styling...

“Show homes should always be inspirational as they’re designed to encourage visitors to dream of what their own home could look like,” says Emma.

“With that in mind we’ve styled the 'Highgrove' show home at Ryarsh Park as if there’s already an affluent family living in it – the fictional Taylors – with every last detail carefully thought out, including a family gallery in the hallway.”

Spanning 2,764 sq ft, the 'Highgrove' is a prestigious property of epic proportions with an abundance of space and no fewer than three en suites.

“The entrance of the 'Highgrove' strikes the perfect balance between having a sense of grandeur and being warm and welcoming. The tasteful green marl walls and high ceilings emphasise the spaciousness of the property, while the tartan carpet and chrome light fittings create a homely feel.” The Highgrove entrance
“On one side of the hallway there’s a spacious lounge, while to the other is a dedicated dining room. We’ve furnished the lounge with neutral sofas with lots of rich red cushions that add warmth and are complemented by a tartan upholstered coffee table and offset by statement-making black lacquer consoles and sideboard."The Highgrove lounge
“The open-plan kitchen, breakfast and family room is very much at the heart of the home. It’s a really sociable, multifunctional space where families can spend quality time together and also demonstrates how the 'Highgrove' lends itself perfectly to entertaining – whether it’s a garden party that spills out from the kitchen to the outdoors or a more formal dining experience with family and friends all gathered round the table in the dining room.” The open-plan kitchen at the Highgrove
“The 'Highgrove' is as stylish as it is practical and recognising that increasingly people spend at least part of the week working from home, there’s also a study. Accessed via the family room, it strikes the balance between having a dedicated work space and still being close to the rest of the family. The study has a very classic, grand look and to give the impression that this is a real home that’s been furnished gradually over a period of time, we’ve furnished this room with a weathered oak table and bookcase, plus leather and tartan desk chair.”The study
Upstairs, two of the five bedrooms have been styled as children’s rooms so families can really picture themselves living in the property – one with a travel theme, the other with an equestrian feel. “The personalities of the buyers are evident from the moment they walk through the door and throughout the property. For example, the initials HT are above ‘son’ Harry’s bed and there are signs that he’s a keen rugby player too."
Styled with biscuit tones, the master bedroom enjoys a sense of luxuriousness, emphasised by the ceiling height super king headboard with lots of plump cushions and an ottoman for extra storage. The Highgrove master bedroom

Ryarsh Park features a good choice of four- and five-bedroom homes from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts inspired Heritage Collection, priced from £449,995.

All of the properties are within easy reach of Maidstone and, crucially, West Malling station, offering journey times of less than an hour to London Victoria.

The show home at Ryarsh Park on Roughetts Road, West Malling, is open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
