Landmark Place is a stunning new development of luxurious apartments from Barratt Homes overlooking the River Thames by Tower Bridge in London

A spectacular new development featuring stylish apartments overlooking the River Thames by Tower Bridge in London has been launched by Barratt Homes.

Landmark Place in a historic location in London is the focus of our show home room by room feature this week. The property is situated on the north bank of the River Thames in Aldgate, E1 within the City of London’s original Roman city walls and features a range of one-bed suites and one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses, with 165 properties in total.

Residents’ facilities include a 24 hour concierge service, a 20 metre swimming pool and spa, a fitness suite, lounge and a cinema room and business suite. There are a total of 41 secure underground parking spaces and being so central, great public transport links nearby to Tower Hill, Monument, Fenchurch Street and London Bridge.

Designed by architects Broadway Malyan, Landmark Place has a striking pavilion-inspired entrance that is inspired by the riverside setting and the central London location. The architecture of the building evokes a feeling of calm grandeur and this is matched by elements of the interior which features monolithic wood, marble and metal panelling.

The interiors were designed by Alexander James Interiors who tried to design the show home to stay true to the team’s original vision and to pay homage to Landmark Place’s position as a part of historical London by being respectful of the heritage of the area, using skilled British craftsmen and artisans for features of the property.

Stacey Sibley, Creative Director at AJ Interiors details some of the work that the team at AJ Interiors to reinforce the history of the area within the design, for example, the TV unit features 4 panels created by one of the oldest Vellum (goat skin) makers, the Martin Huxford light fitting above the dining table, which is made of antique glass to add an established feel or on the dining table furniture, by the fabric used which gives a nod to patterning seen on the London Underground.

Stacey said: “Overall the scheme is neutral but with detailed elements when up close. There is texture present on the curtains and rugs, they are a neutral tone but the texture adds interest.”

The scene-stealer as you enter the apartment is a limited edition Damian Hirst butterfly print in the lounge area.

“It’s a key piece, the first thing you see when you walk in which helps attract people to the interior as the views from the apartment towards The Shard are so stunning.

“I think this apartment would be ideal for an art collector. The limited edition print is one at the end of series of Hirst works all connected to butterflies, it’s all about life and death.

“Accessories also feature a substantial gin collection, a nod to the heritage of gin production in London.”

Other artwork pieces include a print depicting chains located in the study, a nod towards the area’s industrial heritage and herringbone wallpaper – replica of the flooring.

To contrast the focus in the show home design of the heritage of the area there are also plenty of contemporary features such as a Tom Dixon reed diffuser, Brooks Brothers clothing in wardrobe, Lulu Guinness luggage and other features from names such as Ralph Lauren, Jaeger and Vivienne Westwood.

Master Bedroom: “The master bedroom features an eye-catching padded head board, upholstered in a vibrant mottled pattern fabric. The deep navy tones are reflected in the statement table lamps and the textured cushions. The charming touch of gold is found in the amber cushions and brass finish in the lamps, creating a sense of continuity from the living area to the bedroom. A plush faux fur throw is draped effortlessly across the bed to help purchases to imagine themselves coming home and settling in for the evening.”

Living room: “The living room sets the luxurious tone of the show apartment with a sophisticated palette of grey accented with mustard to bring warmth. The colours accompany each other perfectly to showcase the contemporary apartment. The gold tones are echoed in the nest of coffee tables and the accessories, pulling together the formal seating space.”

Dining room: “Overlooking The Shard, the dining area is already set to impress, and is a superb place to enjoy dinner with friends. Contrasting the sharp lines of the architectural backdrop, the dining table is a contemporary glass oval upon a sweeping base, the curves of which are echoed in the statement pendant light above.”

Study: “Adam Collins, a young designer created the desk in the study room and echoes the old structural arches of London stations but using modern materials. Throughout the apartment AJI used metallic finishes in the upholstery fabrics to add a contemporary feel.”
