WhatHouse? takes a tour of Miller Homes’ latest show home at Jackton Gardens in East Kilbride…

Scotland's leading homebuilder Miller Homes has unveiled its latest showhome in the West of Scotland.

The four-bedroom Blackwood at Jackton Gardens, Jackton, offers homebuyers the opportunity to see what life could be like at this stunning new neighbourhood. Jackton Gardens forms part of the newly established Jacktonhall community currently under development

The new Blackwood show home is the first of its kind in Scotland and is from Miller Homes' latest portfolio of home styles. The thoughtful layout of this home is ideal for families of all sizes and life stages, from the beautiful dining kitchen space and separate lounge. Upstairs, a cosy en-suite principal bedroom, a flexible fourth bedroom, and two additional double rooms make this the ultimate forever home.

Designed by Eileen Kesson of Envision, the home has been created to show how easy it is to make a statement of personality on the blank canvas of a new build. Using autumn, undoubtedly the most beautiful season, as her muse, Eileen has created an aspirational space to inspire those looking for a new place to call home. Wood panelling, earthy tones, ambient lighting, warm statement wallpapers and a touch of chrome have all been used to create a rich look and feel with plenty of autumn vibes. Eileen wanted to present a fully dressed home and tap into the return of the wallpaper trend to create a more finished and lived in result.

The striking bold leaf wallpaper brings the hallway to life and contrasts perfectly with the subtle neutral tones, creating a perfect pairing without being too overpowering. Thoughtfully designed to be practical as it is beautiful, the downstairs features a handy storage cupboard to keep everyday clutter at bay and a sleek laundry for keeping the home in order.

Kitchen/dining room

The kitchen dining area acts as the natural hub of the home. The eye-catching and brand new for Miller Homes kitchen from Symphony includes a calming greige pebble finished cabinets, brushed brass square-edged handles, which are offset with a Venice Marble style worktop, creating an elegant look. The beautiful textured grey and gold wallpaper pairs beautifully with the Porcelanosa tiling in a muted light oak wood, creating a classic elegance to this modern home. The charcoal halo pendant light fixture above the dining room table creates a wonderful ambience for family meals, and the use of dual-ended wall lights can transform the room creating a cosy vibe when entertaining.

Lounge

Feature walls continue as a trend in the home. The downstairs lounge showcases an impressive, wood-panelled media wall, incorporating a sleek modern fireplace and a large wall-mounted TV, perfect for snug at-home movie nights. The panelled wall in a new chalky grey finish sits well with the black details in the room. Natural materials are a massive interiors trend for 2022 and wood panelling is a great way to add warmth and texture that will work with your home as you change the décor over the years. The lounge features Smart Minnesota Ash floor tiles from Porcelanosa, which combines the warmth of wood with the practicality of porcelain – a family proof flooring option. A plush ecru couch, bronze round side tables topped with rustic cream and black lamps and contemporary art add the finishing touches to this room. A statement oval mirror enhances the crush-effect delicate wallpaper throughout the rest of the room.

Principal bedroom

Moving upstairs, the principal bedroom has been designed as a relaxing retreat to forget the day. Wrapped up to weather any storm, the rich velvet bed has been dressed in crisp white bed linens and made extra cosy with layers of throws in faux fur, pearl, gold and bronze tones to create texture and warmth. This enchanting getaway has a unique gold foiled wallpaper of trees in their winter leafless stage, and gold exposed bedside units to bring it all together complementing perfectly with rich textured curtains and smoked glass pendant lighting.

Monochrome geometric shapes are very on-trend and feature as a statement wall in bedroom two. The black and white contrasts beautifully with a rich ochre velvet frame, made winter proof with a textured throw and cushions. The jet-black roman blind with silver foiled detail adds an extra touch to this room, as does the honeycomb shaped beige and black geometric designed wallpaper.

Bedroom three

Bedroom three is equally as inviting with a grey giraffe outline wall vinyl, complimented by a soft white tent-style bed, armchair and iridescent cream curtains. The room is the epitome of calm, with pale grey walls and soft furnishings pulling together beautifully.

Bedroom four

Jackton Gardens (Miller Homes)

Bedroom four showcases the home's versatility and has been designed as a spare bedroom and home office space, reflecting the continued popularity of hybrid working. Featuring more wood panelling, this room has been given an amber glow with a vibrant velvet armchair and neutral accent wall in a grey and white linework wallpaper print.

Louise Caldwell, sales director for Miller Homes Scotland West says: “With its superb location on the outskirts of East Kilbride and not far from the country village of Eaglesham, Jackton Gardens is a new community suitable for families of ages and stages. Nearby to multiple transport links, the location ticks plenty of boxes for commuters and those looking to enjoy rural surroundings, all within easy reach of exceptional local amenities. Miller Homes has a great selection of offers to help make buying a little easier this year. For those looking to make a move before Christmas, there is limited availability on selected homes.”

Interested buyers can visit the Blackwood show home at Jackton Gardens from Thursday to Monday between 10.30am and 5.30pm with no appointment necessary.
