Shared Ownership houses now available in rural location

House-hunters in Essex will now find a selection of houses available under the Shared Ownership scheme in Waltham Abbey, where L&Q is building its Knights Wood development.

There are 25 two- and three-bedroom properties available under the scheme. Prices start from £125,125 for a 35% share of a two-bedroom house (with a full market value £357,500), and from £154,000 for a 35% share of a three-bedroom property (with a full market value £440,000).

The new homes have been designed to fit in to the local landscape only eight minutes from the town centre and within easy reach of a number of local schools. The development will also be home to an on-site nursery and pre-school facility in the future.

Christine Osborne, sales and customer services director at L&Q, says: “Traditionally, L&Q has focused a high proportion of our development activity within the M25. However, our ambition to deliver 100,000 new homes includes some serious expansion into new areas such as Waltham Abbey, where alternative homeownership options still remain less common. The new homes at Knights Wood will provide an affordable route onto the housing ladder in an area where average house prices have risen 30% in the last three years.”
